Is Fletcher Cox the new Luke Kuechly? A month ago, every mock drafter on the planet had the Eagles taking the Boston College linebacker, but in the wake of the DeMeco Ryans trade, the hot name in mocks for the Eagles seems to be Mississippi St DT Fletcher Cox.

In his latest mock draft, Sports Illustrated NFL writer Don Banks explains why the 6-4, 296 lb Cox is a fit.

The Eagles are another team that could take Mark Barron, but I'm sticking with Cox because of how much value there is in having a deep defensive line rotation in the NFC East (see Giants, New York). I've moved Cox ahead of LSU?s Michael Brockers on the consensus opinion that he's more NFL-ready in 2012.

The consensus among fans seems to be that we'd be happy with Cox. And at least in Banks' draft, the Eagles will have gotten good value with him. Banks actually has Dontari Poe going at #9! Cox was simply a far better and more productive player in college.
