The fans are certainly getting what they want this year. The Eagles made another crowd pleasing selection with Georgia CB Brandon Boykin. He was a very productive slot corner at Georgia, which is certainly an area the Eagles had a need. He was also a very good kick returner in college, another spot the Eagles needed help.
Todd McShay called Boykin "one of the most dynamic return specialists we have in college football."
Boykin is an absolute burner who has been clocked as low as 4.35 in the 40. He won't get burned by any WRs and even played on offense at RB for Georgia. Again Boise State last year, he was the Bulldog's best offensive player. So he's a pretty impressive athlete.
That said, he is small. At 5-9, 182 he's just never going to be able to take on big, physical NFL WRs. Plus, he's had injury concerns as well. Reports say he's suffered 2 concussions in college and he fractured his fibula at the Senior Bowl.
At the very least though, Boykin should step in and make an impact in the return game right away, which is certainly something the Eagles needed to get out of this draft.
NFL.com's Bucky Brooks says Boykin offers the Eagles a lot of options.
Boykin is one of the best athletes in the draft with superior quickness and leaping ability to make up for his lack of diminutive stature. He has also spent some time on offense as a slot receiver and return man, which makes him an intriguing multi-dimensional weapon for the Eagles.
