The Eagles went crazy in free agency last season and signed everyone while losing only Stewart Bradley of note (and even he's just a minor loss).
So when the NFL announced its compensatory picks today, it was no surprise that the Eagles did not get a comp pick in this upcoming draft.
Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.
With the likes of Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins & Jason Babin in and Stewart Bradley out... Clearly the Eagles did not lose more compensatory free agents than it acquired. 23 teams did get comp picks however. The Oakland Raiders got the lone 3rd rounder for losing Asomugha.
[Note by JasonB, 03/27/12 12:04 AM EDT ] As was pointed out in the comments, the Eagles did lose David Akers & Quintin Mikell to free agency last year. One got big money and the other made a Pro Bowl after leaving. Still, the NFL did not judge their departure as enough to offset all the signings.
The full list of comp picks is after the jump.
