The Evan Mathis sweepstakes is getting down to the wire and he is leaving Baltimore without signing a contract. According to Adam Caplan, he's got offers from the Eagles and Ravens.
My understanding is the Ravens have made Evan Mathis a very solid offer, but he's still scheduled to fly back to Arizona.

Caplan says the Eagles are still "very much in it" and spoke with Mathis about the decision.
Mathis to me just now: "Ravens have offered a nice deal. I'm flying back to Arizona to think about it and discuss it with my family."

So now we wait. One would think the Ravens offer was maybe for a bit more, because otherwise why would he even entertain it? If he likes the system here and they're offering more money, he'd just sign. Of course, the Ravens can't have made an "offer he can't refuse" because he is leaving town without signing. So it would be that the Eagles are in the ballpark. It's just a matter of closing him now.
