Andy Reid is out as Eagles head coach, a position he has held since 1999, the team announced this morning.
"Andy Reid won the most games of any head coach in Eagles' history and he is someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come," said Jeffrey Lurie announced in a statement. "But, it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction. Andy leaves us with a winning tradition that we can build upon. And we are very excited about the future."
Lurie, who will talk to the media at noon, said that the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
[Note by JasonB, 12/31/12 11:08 AM EST ] The Jeff Lurie press conference has been pushed to 1pm. Reid will not be appearing with Lurie at the presser. Howie Roseman will meet with reporters afterward.
