While it has seemed fairly obvious over the past couple of months that Andy Reid would not be back with the Eagles next season, there were some fans and reporters that wondered whether there was some chance or crazy scenario where he would be back. They doubted that Jeff Lurie would be ready to pull the trigger after 14 years.
Well, worry no more. It's pretty clear that Reid is officially done.
Bob Grotz from the Delco Times reported before today's game was over that a source confirmed that Reid would be let go Monday.
Howard Eskin then chimed in saying a source told him that Reid was informed on Friday that he would not be back in 2013. NFL.com has since confirmed this report.
Ruben Frank then reported that 2 sources confirmed to him that Lurie has already told Reid that he will not return next year.
So while one Eagles reporter will get a story wrong here or there... They're not all going to be wrong. It's quite clear that Andy Reid is out as Eagles coach and the news will be made official tomorrow. A press conference has been tentatively scheduled for noon tomorrow at the NovaCare complex.
Reid wouldn't address the reports in his post-game press conference, but clearly sounded reflective.
“I love the Philadelphia Eagles," Reid said. "That’s how I feel. I loved every minute I had a chance to coach them.”
