After missing last week with an ankle injury, Eagles RG Danny Watkins is still not practicing. He, along with Cullen Jenkins (knee) sat out Thursdays practice. Reid said he expects Jenkins to be fine for Monday.
That probably will not be the case for Danny Watkins, who Reid said will "struggle" to play this week. Starting in his place for the 2nd straight week will be rookie Dennis Kelly, who acquitted himself pretty well against the Falcons. Jordan Raanan talked about what he saw from Kelly in his film breakdown earlier this week.
I charted all 63 offensive plays for the Eagles and Kelly more than held his own blocking Peria Jerry and Corey Peters most of the afternoon. Kelly, the 6-foot-8 rookie out of Purdue, was especially strong in pass blocking. Other than a miscommunication where an unrecognized blitzer looped to his side (likely Vick or center Dallas Reynolds' fault), Kelly did not allow a single pressure.
Where the rookie did struggle was getting out in the screen game and making blocks on the second level in the run games. On three plays in the second half Kelly was slow getting out on a screen pass.
The only other injury news for the Eagles is WR/PR Mardy Gilyard, who is out with a hamstring injury.
For the Saints, RB Darren Sproles was held out with a hand injury and WR Courtney Roby missed practice with a shoulder.
