The Eagles announced the signing of LB Jason Williams today. The 6-1, 244 pounder out of Western Illinois was a 3rd round pick of the Cowboys in 2009, but has spent the last couple of years in Carolina. He was let go at the end of roster cuts this season.
What is the key stat on Williams you ask? In 2011, he led the Panthers with 15 special teams tackles and forced a fumble. Quite clearly he's here as what the team hopes will be another capable body on special teams.
To make room on the 53 man roster, the team released LB Adrian Moten, who spent just a week on the 53 man roster. Moten had been brought in over Brian Rolle to bolster special teams, but the Eagles kick coverage really didn't improve last week.
