According to 94WIP/FOX 29's Howard Eskin, the Eagles may very well be making a change at quarterback for next week's game. He is reporting that Andy Reid met with coaches after the game to discuss a change and will talk again this morning, but a change to Nick Foles is "likely."
While it didn't appear that Michael Vick made any noticeable mistakes Sunday, Eskin says there were issues with audibles.
"I'm told Vick made 2 bad audible mistakes on calls and has same problems each wk. Reid leaning 2 change at QB because Vick not getting better"
After the game, when asked about Vick's play, Reid would only say, ""I'll take a look at the tape. There were some things he could do better."
Vick seemed almost resigned to the possibility of a change.
"Obviously he's thinking about making a change at the quarterback position," he told reporters yesterday. "The thing I do know, and I'll go and watch the film and I'll evaluate myself, is that I'm giving us every opportunity to win. I'm trying my hardest. Some things don't go right when I want them to. Some things do. So if that's a decision that coach wants to make, then I support it."
This would be a curious time to make a switch. The Eagles will play a Monday Night Football game on the road in New Orleans next week, which would be an incredibly high pressure situation for the rookie Foles. That said. the Saints are the worst defense in the NFL giving up 474.4 yards per game, so despite the pressure there will be opportunities to make plays.
