In a surprise move, the Eagles have released Brian Rolle.

Rolle tweeted this morning about the release, and the move has since been confirmed.

"Well Philly, it's been real" said Rolle.

Taking Rolle's place on the roster will be Adrian Molten, a 6'2, 230 pound LB from Maryland. The news comes the day after news broke that Julian Vandervelde coming to the Eagles. He will be added to the practice squad.

Here are is a quote from Rolle from Tim McManus of Eagles 24/7.

"I'm surprised to say the least," said Rolle. "I felt like there's been tension the last couple weeks there anyway. I'm at a loss for words. It's crazy but I know I'll get an opportunity somewhere else. I know I did everything in my power and played hard, and obviously it was not enough. Wherever I end up, there's going to be hell."

Rolle, a 6th round draft pick out of Ohio State, started a few games last year before being sent back to the bench at the start of training camp this year. He has appeared in all 4 games for the Eagles this season, but has only 4 tackles.

He was not considered a great special teams player, which is probably the reason behind the move. According to the Eagles media guide, Rolle had only 8 special team points this season. By comparison, Casey Matthews (30), Akeem Jordan (21) and Jamar Chaney (22) all have considerably more.

Given the way the special teams played this week, cutting Rolle is a reminder to those on the unit that their performance has to improve- or they could be out of a job.
