In some rare occasions, when a player is being interviewed in the locker room, he'll say something insightful or revealing. Most of the time though, he's just trying to get it over with.
Case in point, DeMeco Ryans. He was asked about how the Eagles could go about stopping the Lions' pro bowl WR Calvin Johnson?
"He's a special player, a very special player and we're going to have to make sure we cover him," said Ryans.
Well, you can't argue with that plan. I certainly do hope the Eagles make sure to cover him.
Andy Reid had a little more to say about the man they call Megatron.
"When they give you the nickname ‘Megatron', that means you're pretty good. He's a really good player."
Johnson, who caught 16 touchdowns last season, has just 1 in 2012. Andy Reid says that he's seen a pretty wide variety of coverages this season, but its not much different than in years passed.
"He saw a variety, but normally people are looking to cover him with a couple of people. He has earned that respect and that's what teams have done. That doesn't mean that is what you have to do, but that is what teams have tried to do against him. That has been going on not just this year but the last few. They still try find ways to get open and get him the football."
When asked if the Eagles have a specific plan to stop Johnson on Sunday, Juan Castillo says yes. But he's not telling what it is.
"I don't want to give away what we're going to do. Hopefully we can talk about it after the game, and you can say, ‘Juan, that was a good game plan that you all had.'"
Ok then...
