Juan Castillo Super Bowl Misquote Goes Viral

Great job by a few members of the community, J Pastor and SilkPhantom who both pointed out a notable misquote from Juan Castillo's press conference yesterday. Here was the quote that the Eagles themselves sent out and has been picked up by a number of outlets.

"The linebackers will be ready to win the Super Bowl. Remember, it takes 16 weeks, and then really whoever is playing their best during the playoffs. So when you look at it there's time to develop.

Now, he absolutely did say those words in that order, but as those guys rightly pointed out the punctuation is all off and really changes the meaning. If you go watch the video of Juan's press conference, here is what he really said.

"The linebackers will be ready. To win the Super Bowl, remember, it takes 16 weeks, and then really whoever is playing their best during the playoffs. So when you look at it there's time to develop.

Do you see the difference? He simply didn't say "The linebackers will be ready to win the Super Bowl." And by the way, this was in response to a direct question which said that the rest of the team seems to have veterans ready for a run at the Super Bowl. So it's not as if Juan brought up the Super Bowl out of nowhere...

So of course all those people looking for any semblance of overconfidence or bravado from the Eagles, this quote certainly appeared as written to be exactly what they wanted. PFT, as they usually do, picked up on that one part of the quote that they read elsewhere and ran it as a headline... So on and on it goes as everyone just repeats it. Unfortunately, it's just not reality.

Great catch guys.
