Ronnie Brown has signed a one year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to be a backup to LeSean McCoy. Brown's greatest strength is his versatility, as a rusher, receiver, in pass protection, and as a weapon formerly in the Dolphins Wildcat offense. He brings a skill set that is perfect for the Eagles offense. He's also a bigger RB, listed at 6'0, 230. He does come with some injury concerns though, as he has had two seasons cut short due to injuries, both in 2007 and 2009. Brown's career stats:
Year | Games | Attempts | Yards | Avg | TD | Rec | Yards | TD |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2010 | 16 | 200 | 734 | 3.7 | 5 | 33 | 242 | 0 |
2009 | 9 | 147 | 648 | 4.4 | 8 | 14 | 98 | 0 |
2008 | 16 | 214 | 916 | 4.3 | 10 | 33 | 254 | 0 |
2007 | 7 | 119 | 602 | 5.1 | 4 | 39 | 389 | 1 |
2006 | 13 | 241 | 1008 | 4.2 | 5 | 33 | 276 | 0 |
2005 | 15 | 207 | 907 | 4.4 | 4 | 32 | 232 | 1 |
Brown was the 2nd overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, and becomes the 5th former first rounder to be acquired by the Eagles during this free agency period after Jason Babin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Vince Young and Nnamdi Asomugha.
The rich get richer. I seriously don't think I've ever even added this many players in Madden... with the salary cap turned off. Are players just coming here because they want to play with Michael Vick? Whatever the case, keep 'em coming, Howie. Next.
[Update by JimmyK, 08/02/11 5:15 PM EDT ] - WOW, per Pro Football Talk, the Eagles get Ronnie Brown for only $1 million with a small package of incentives, per league source. Just incredible. I think at this point, guys are just saying "Screw it, I'm playing for Philly. Just pay me whatever."
Ronnie's highlight reel after the jump...
