Rumor: Cardinals Prepared To Offer DRC Straight Up For Kevin Kolb?

Mike Jurecki, who covers the Arizona Cardinals of XTRA 910-AM sports radio is reporting that a source has told him that the Arizona Cardinals have settled on Kevin Kolb as their QB of choice when the lockout ends and are prepared to offer cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie straight up in trade.

Makes sense for both teams... AZ desperately needs a QB; Kolb has the biggest upside of the QB that could be become available. They have ID Kolb as the guy.

Philly needs a corner Nnamdi Asomugha is the number one free agent (take QB's out of he mix), Ike Taylor is 31 yrs old and would like to cash in...DRC is under contract the next 2 yrs making over about a million per yr. So the Eagles won't have to pay any signing bonus.

This is certainly not the first time such a deal has been rumored. About a month ago we discussed the merits of a Kolb for DRC trade and raised some concerns from an Eagles perspective. Check out the article for the full analysis, but the general gist is that DRC may not be the type of corner the Eagles really need to play opposite Asante Samuel. Although a positive for Asante should DRC come here is that he'd no longer be the worst tackler in the secondary! So, there's a positive.

Jurecki also brought up an interesting point about Kyle Orton, who every seems to think is available and is the fallback for many teams from Kevin Kolb. Should be traded this offseason, that would make two teams (Bears and Broncos) that have given up on him. Jurecki says this seems like a point of concern for Arizona.

Let's put it to a vote though. Would you do this trade?
