In a selfless display of leadership and forward thinking, the trio of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees told the world "it's time to get a deal done!"
"We believe the overall proposal made by the players is fair for both sides and it is time to get this deal done," Brady, Manning and Brees said in the statement.
"This is the time of year we as players turn our attention to the game on the field. We hope the owners feel the same way."
Boy fellas, I can't say how meaningful this is that you put this statement out there. I mean that fact that you think the players' proposal is good? Wow. That's such a departure from how you must have felt these last two years when no progress being made.
And lo and behold, the NFL has decided to respond... and they agree!
“We share the view that now is the time to reach an agreement so we can all get back to football and a full 2011 season. We are working hard with the players’ negotiating team every day to complete an agreement as soon as possible.”
Give me a break.... My favorite part of this hollow, meaningless statement was how CBS sports
called it a "bold move."
Yes, how very bold. To repeat what every owner, player, PR person, fan, reporter etc has said all said summer. So bold.
