The Black Eyed Peas were able to do what pretty much no politician has ever been able to accomplish. They united the country in total agreement on something. The fact that they were horrible. According to an ESPN poll, every single state in the union gave them an F for their Super Bowl halftime performance.
I can't say as though I disagree. It was very apparent that as a live act, the Black Eyed Peas are absolutely awful. Their formula for success to crank up dancey beats and sing a catchy chorus with uber produced vocals over them. For the halftime show, they basically did the opposite. The music was turned way down, they sung with their real voices(which are terrible) and clumsily fumbled through a melody of choruses of their different songs, only maybe 3 of which were ever big hits.
The absolute low point had to be when Slash rises out of the stage and Fergie belts out the first verse/chorus of "Sweet Child Of Mine" that was so bad she would have been laughed out of the American Idol audition room. Only this wasn't the audition phase of American Idol where you laugh at the crappy singers, this was halftime at the Super Bowl. In second place for the most awful moment? The incredibly short and oddly out of place Usher cameo. What was the point?
