Fox Sports NFL Mock Draft Has Eagles Going Local

So far this offseason we've seen a lot of the same out of most mock drafts in regards to the Eagles. Not so for Fox Sports. With offensive lineman like Anthony Castonzo, Nate Solder, Gabe Carimi & Derek Sherrod on the board Pete Schrager has the Eagles taking a defensive tackle... from Temple.

Muhammad Wilkerson, DT, Temple: The name I’ve been hyping the past few weeks seems to be gaining a little momentum from my draftnik brethren. Relatively unknown a few weeks back, I’ve been seeing Wilkerson’s name pop up more and more. You know I’m all about the kid, a hard worker from Temple with unlimited potential. This year’s big surprise name could very well be the 6-5, 305-pound Wilkerson. A local kid out of Temple, Wilkerson was a two-time All-MAC selection and the Owls’ team MVP this season. He’s a run stuffer inside with pass rushing capabilities. Andy Reid loves building from the inside out, and in Wilkerson, he can add depth to a defensive line that was ravaged by injuries last season. New defensive coordinator Juan Castillo will get a nice draft day treat in the Philly product.

To be fair, I've been hearing a lot of great stuff about Wilkerson and he has been shooting up draft boards. It certainly would be fun to see a local product stay in town... but the draft isn't about doing what makes for a nice story. It's about improving the team. Defensive tackle isn't the biggest need the Eagles have by a long shot. I'm not against taking a DT, for the same reason I'm not against taking any good player, but with virtually every top offensive lineman still on the board I'd be shocked if this is the way the Eagles went if the draft shook out like this.
