DeSean Jackson Is Ok With Being Benched, Still Upset With His Contract

DeSean Jackson talked the media today and well... get ready to be annoyed. First, and not annoying, was that he accepted the punishment that he was given, addressed the team and the coach and wants to move on.

"I didn't think it was too harsh at all. I never made a comment on it. For anything to say what I felt, this is the first time I'm speaking out on it. I never said what he did was harsh, never said it was wrong or anything. As a man, what he did, I respect him. He had to do what he did for the team's sake and from a head coach point of view. So we're kind of over and done with that. I kind of wish it would've happened different. But I can't sit here and dwell on it. I've gotta continue in second half of season to do everything I need to do."

Ok, that's fine. But, he continued and admitted that his contract situation is bothering him. People may not think it's such a big deal, but they're not the ones going through it.

"For people to say whatever it is, they don't know what I'm going through. I'm the one that has to come to work. I'm the one that has to be here. Everyone can have their own opinion, but I'm the one that's dealing with it."

He's right. Most people aren't dealing with only making a half million dollars. 9% of the country is dealing with having no job at all... That's something which is actually tough to deal with.

"Everybody knows the contract situation. As a human being, these are just things you have to go through in life. I realize what it is and am just ready to continue and go forward. Whatever I've done in the past is over. I'm just gonna continue to handle my business like I need to do. Regardless of what anybody else says about it, I could care less about it. I know what I need to do and I'm gonna make it happen."

Now I understand that these guys live in a different world than us. Stepping back, I can see where DeSean is coming from. If I scaled his problems down to my own life, I can understand. We all want to be paid and or recognized for our value. If we feel like we've earned a raise or a reward, then we'd all probably be annoyed if we didn't get it.

So I understand... but I'm not sympathetic and I doubt anyone else is. This is just not the right time to be complaining about your contract. This is the wrong time in our country, wrong time in this season and the wrong time in his career. All complaining about what you're "dealing with" and how tough your "situation" is will do is make everyone dislike you. It will vindicate all those people who said you're an attitude problem, a diva, another TO.

But I don't think he's that guy. He's 24 years old. He was raised well. He does great things for kids. Seriously, watch this video and tell me it doesn't make you a little misty. This is a really good guy we've got here. I just think he's making a mistake and I hope he realizes it before he loses the whole fanbase.
