A lot of NFL pundits are somewhat confused by how to see the Eagles right now. They dominated the Cowboys last night in what was probably their first complete game of the year, but in reality they've shown flashes of that ability all year. We know they have the talent to play the way they did... So how do you treat them? Would you still say they're a bottom half team in this league because they're 3-4 or do say they've turned the corner and rank them as a real contender at this point?

Peter King seems to go with the latter. He says the Packers are the best team in the league, but at #2?

2. Second-best: I don't totally trust anyone. Niners? Steelers? Patriots, assuming they can play a shootout? Or everyone's not-so-darkhorse this morning, Philadelphia?

Later in his MMQB column, he ranks the Eagles at #8, above the Giants...

8. Philadelphia (3-4). I believe Arlen Specter will begin an investigation this morning into how on God's green earth the Eagles could ever have lost four games in a row.

On it's face, that does seem too high, but it's such an odd year in the NFL. Like King said earlier, it's hard to trust anyone. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, the Saints lose to the Rams. The Ravens and Giants almost get beat by bad teams, the Patriots look terrible... The lack of offseason and these new practice rules (as in, they don't practice) have really changed the league this year. There's one juggernaut and whole bunch of other guys that can be great or terrible on any given Sunday.
