As if the way the Eagles have played wasn't bad enough, here's some bad news to heap on the pile. Andy Reid announced today that DT Antonio Dixon, the teams best inside run stopper, is done for the year a torn triceps. He also said that Trent Cole has a "fairly significantly" strained calf and is out "indefinitely."
Jason Peters suffered what Andy again termed a 'significant" hamstring injury on the Eagles last offensive play and there is also no timetable for his return.
So, just like it's two Pro Bowlers gone for how knows how long and a key piece on the defensive line lost for the year. Trent Cole's loss may be mitigated somewhat by the likely return of Darryl Tapp, but obviously that's a pretty significant tradeoff as Cole is likely the Eagles best defensive player. As for Dixon, the Eagles are going to have to sign someone. Cedric Thornton is on the practice squad and Derek Landri, who played well in preseason is still out there as well.
As for left tackle, it appears as though it could be King Dunlap time. The only other option would probably be to slide Herremans over to the left and out either Dunlap or Winston Justice in at RT. Although with Vick being a lefty, you'd want your best guy on the right side and among those options, that guy would certainly be Todd Herremans.
