This may be one of the most amazing stories of the NFL season. The Eagles made a trade with the Lions swapping RBs Ronnie Brown and Jerome Harrison. Just a day later, it was reported that Harrison had "health issues" and that the trade has been voided. Today, Adam Schefter is reporting that those "health issues" are a brain tumor.

As Schefter points out, had he not been traded, Harrison wouldn't have had a physical and doctors would not have discovered the tumor. So it could be that this trade ends up saving his life.

Obviously we can only hope nothing but the best for Harrison and I guess thank the weird confluence of events that led to this discovery. Just think about it, if Ronnie Brown doesn't commit that bizarre, once in a lifetime kind of stupid turnover, there's a pretty good chance he never gets traded. Then Harrison doesn't have this physical and he goes on not realizing he has a brain tumor.

Sometimes life works in funny ways, but this time at least fates seemed to conspire for the positive. Let's hope Harrison makes it through. Reportedly, his prognosis is good.

Harrison is not expected to play again this season, but his long-term prognosis both for life and his football career appear to be good, sources said. He is visiting with more doctors Thursday.
