JimmyK got the word straight from the Eagles that next weekend's wildcard round matchup between the Eagles and Packers is scheduled for Sunday at 4:30. The Packers win over the Bears today locked up the #6 seed for them and knocked the New York Giants out of the playoffs. Should the Eagles win this weekend, they will then head to Chicago in the second round for yet another rematch.
My early reaction is positive. Obviously of the three possible opponents you would have wanted the Bucs, but I think the Packers are the second best option. Don't get me wrong, I think the Packers are overall a better team than the Giants... I just never want to have to face a division rival as the favorite in the playoffs. Time after time we've seen the visitor win in that situation because you lose a lot of your home field advantage. It's hard to beat a team three times in a season, let alone for a 7th straight time. So given the choice, I'm glad we got the Packers.
It's going to be a tough game though. This game pits the NFC's best defense against the NFC's best offense. It'll be exciting.
