Sunday Morning Bloody Mary: Dallas Week Just Doesn't Feel The Same

The word of the week has been "meaningless." The Eagles playoff seeding is set in stone, a win or loss changes nothing for them. We know pretty much for certain that the Eagles are going to rest Michael Vick and a number of other starters. DeSean Jackson and Asante Samuel are both dinged up and I would bet are very unlikely to play most if not all of this game.

So how do we approach this? In a lot of ways, the way the schedule shook out has robbed us of one of our most fun weekends of the year. The Cowboys are coming to Philadelphia... traditionally there's no weekend where the Linc is louder and Eagles fans are rooting harder for a win. This time however, it's just not the same. For one, the Cowboys stink and plus... we are looking ahead to the playoffs a bit. Without our starters, this becomes a game with built in excuses. If we lose, so what? If we win, so what? Yeah it would be fun to point out that Dallas couldn't even beat our backups... but we can't really take any solace in the team improving on it's performance from Tuesday. If Daniel Te'o-Nesheim gets two sacks and Austin Howard pancakes three guys, it doesn't mean the ills from last week are fixed because those guys aren't going to play next week.

We're going to get to see Kevin Kolb again, which is interesting... but he's probably going to have a part backup offensive line and a lack of weapons. So there's probably going to be limited chances to evaluate/shop him to the rest of the league. I just don't see a whole lot to take out of this game and that's a bummer for an Eagles/Cowboys matchup. If you check over at Blogging The Boys they don't seem to care a whole lot either. Let's hope it feels different come game time.
