Max Jean-Gilles May Be The Eagles Permanent Starting RG

This week Andy Reid was asked about the right guard situation this weekend and for the remainder of the season and his answer was.... somewhat ambiguous. Nick Cole opened the season as the starter, but was injured two weeks ago and Max Jean-Gilles took last week. I actually felt like Max was the teams' best lineman last week.

So Andy was asked who was the starter this week?

On the starting right guard against the 49ers:

"[G] Max [Jean-Gilles] is the starting guard."

On whether Cole is healthy and capable of playing on the offensive line:

"Yeah, Nick can play. Nick will suit up and play. He'll be able to play."

On whether Jean-Gilles is the full-time starter:

"Max is starting in this game, yeah."

On whether Jean-Gilles is the starter full-time now:

"Max is a full-timer. Max is the starting right guard."

The first few answers seemed to indicate that Andy wasn't making a commitment beyond this week, but at the end there he seems to declare that Max is the full time starting RG now... I have to wonder whether this could pave the way for Nick Cole moving to center and displacing Mike McGlynn, who struggled against Washington last week.

As for Max, we've pretty much never been fans of him around him and honestly I don't have a ton of confidence in him going forward, but I did think he played really well last week. He pushed Albert Haynesworth around on several occasions and like I said, was the best lineman on the field for the Eagles. That might not be saying much, but still... If he can keep up the level play he showed last week, maybe Max can change some minds.
