The end of half play where the Eagles were flagged for delay of game and had to settle for a FG, might well have literally ended up being the difference in the game. If the Eagles had those extra four points, they wouldn't have gone for two in the second half and the game would have been tied.
Just for review... LeSean McCoy took the ball to the goal line on a 3rd down play and a booth review said he didn't cross the line. The Eagles then call a timeout as they planned to go for it on 4th and an inch. The ball was initially placed a few inches from the goal line, but then the refs moved it back about a yard. Andy Reid argues with the refs about why it was moved and at some point during that argument the clock winds. As they trot out to huddle up, the referees flag them for delay of game.
Could have changed the entire game... Obviously Andy Reid had explaining to do.
"I take full responsibility, in particular for what happened at the end of the first half. I thought the play initially started out as [4th-and] inches, but after the review, the play we had for inches ended up being a yard, and the clock was well into it when we were aware of that. That is my responsibility, and there are no excuses for it at all. Obviously we have to start off faster than we did both offensively, defensively and on special teams. Again, that is my responsibility."
