Wilmington News Journal copy editor and gold writer Brad Myers outlines his argument for not wanting the Eagles to sign TJ Houshmandzadeh.
Houshmandzadeh is a good receiver who has been stuck on a bad team (the Cincinnati Bengals). Now, he can go wherever he wants to go, and I'm sure he'd like to play for a winner. But T.J., on behalf of all the sportswriters and copy editors in the Delaware Valley, I'm begging you: PLEASE DON'T SIGN WITH THE EAGLES.
The reason we don't want you is your name. T.J. (which is short for Touraj Jr.), we can handle. It's the Houshmandzadeh part that is going to cause problems. It's hard to spell. It's hard to pronounce (according to Wikipedia, you prefer hoosh-man-ZAH-deh). It's almost impossible to fit into a headline. And it's safe to assume if you sign with the Eagles, your name is going to be in hundreds of headlines, whether you're a spectacular success or the next Freddie Mitchell.
Yes, in this slow time between the superbowl and the start of free agency, it gets pretty tough to fill space with Eagles news...
