Could Tom Heckert be on the move?

Tom Heckert's name came up in two stories about various openings around the NFL this week.

First, it was reported that Heckert wants "no part" of a position with the Detroit Lions.

According to a league source, Eagles general manager Tom Heckert wants "no part'' of the Lions assistant general manager position. Heckert, who has been rumored to be leaving the Eagles organization for the last couple of years, would want more influence in personnel matters and it's clear that GM Martin Mayhew will be running the show in Detroit.

The second is the GM opening with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are interested in former Eagles' LB coach and current Giants' D coordinator, Steve Spagnulo and at last one report has suggested they may be interested in bringing in Heckert and Spagnulo as a "package deal."

The Broncos entered the picture yesterday after firing Mike Shanahan on Tuesday. Like the Browns, the Broncos also are in the market for a general manager. They could be interested in a package deal that includes Spagnuolo and Eagles GM Tom Heckert, according to a league source. The Browns reportedly have made Patriots vice president Scott Pioli their top candidate for general manager.

Spagnuolo and Heckert spent six seasons together in Philadelphia. Heckert has been a candidate for general manager jobs the last few years and acts primarily as an adviser to Eagles coach Andy Reid, who has final say on personnel decisions.
