Eagles Notes - Power ranks, Desean Jackson, and Chris Clemons

Peter King has the Eagles 5th in his weekly power rankings.

5. Philadelphia (1-0). I told Andy Reid Sunday night: "Aren't you glad you listened to all of us smart guys who wrote you had to trade Donovan McNabb?'' He chuckled. Reid's not one to say "I told you so,'' though I know he thinks it.

Speaking of lists... SI's Bucky Brooks has Desean Jackson at #2 in his offensive rookie of the year awards watch.

2. DeSean Jackson, WR, Eagles (3): The electrifying rookie lived up to the hype with his noteworthy performance. Jackson led the team with six receptions for 106 yards and added a dazzling 60-yard punt return in 38-3 demolishing of the Rams.

Brooks also has Donovan McNabb as his league MVP so far...

Chris Clemons did knock down a pass at the line last Sunday at defensive end, but the job he did on special teams went unnoticed... until now.

Chris Clemons, the defensive end who was signed as a free agent after getting a career-high eight sacks last season for Oakland, had the initial block on Jackson's 60-yard return in the third quarter of the Eagles' 38-3 victory over St. Louis.

''He did a nice job chasing the kick, and ended up in the right position to to make the block and gave DeSean some room to work there,'' special teams coordinator Rory Segrest said Thursday as the Eagles continued preparations for Monday night's game at Dallas. ''He's a guy that we're trying to work in on some areas and we've been [practicing] him since training camp.''
