Eagles sign Reed, tender Hanson

Per the official site.
The Eagles have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with safety J.R. Reed and tendered a one-year contract to restricted free agent cornerback Joselio Hanson. If another club signs Hanson to an offer sheet, the Eagles have seven days to match that offer. If they choose not to match, the Eagles will receive a 2nd round draft choice as compensation.

Obviously no team is going to surrender a second round pick for Joselio Hanson, so you can pretty much count him signed. I think Hanson really started to to play well last year when he took over for Will James. I'm not sure Hanson will ever become that great Al Harris/Rod Hood type nickel CB that the Eagles have always had, but he's solid and a guy I like for depth.

As for JR Reed... He'll obviously have to fight to make the team. I'm not sure about JR. The guy brings very little in the kick return game anymore, he clearly doesn't have the same spark and ability he had before the injury. At safety, he's a pretty devastating hitter but all too often I saw him out of position in both pass and run coverage. It's not necessarily that he gets beat, he just seems to lose his bearings at times. Perhaps it's something that can be worked out.

T minus 9 hours and counting until free agency officially begins.
