LT William Thomas had knee surgery this offseason, but the Eagles didn't reveal it until now. He was not a part of mini camp but they think he'll be back by training camp. Winston Justice is taking his spot for now.
Chris Gocong will be playing extra snaps this preseason. Jim Johnson said he needs the extra work, but is confident he'll be able to win the starting SAM job.
Jim Johnson and Andy Reid realized they needed more size at LB after watching them last year, so they got significantly bigger this year.
The Eagles are raving about what they've seen from Broderick Bunkley. From his new attitude, his fitness, his technique... they can't say enough. It's early, but if he's improved as much as they say he'll be a huge addition this year.
The Eagles seems to have a new and clear focus this year, the run game. Committing to it on offense and stopping it on defense.
LJ Smith, who is in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract buthe's not going to hold out to get it. He's going to play this year out and hope for the best.
G Cobb was at minicamp and did a great job giving his thoughts on what he saw. Definitely visit his site for the full recaps but here some quick capsules;
He was very impressed by Jason Avant, he's put on size, made some acrobatic catches, and caught everything near him. Avant was the star of the minicamp from what G said. Victor Abiamiri is clearly the teams biggest DE and is already ahead of Jerome McDougle on the depth chart. He liked Kevin Curtis' speed and what he saw from all the LBs. He also raved about William James, saying he's been the best corner at camp.
A common thing I've read in all these articles is how skinny Jevon Kearse is. He's apparently down to 240 lbs, which will make it impossible to play DE in the NFL. Jim Johnson said he's not worried about it and that Kearse should be able to put on 20 pounds by training camp. Check out Kearse on the left in this photo from GCobb.com
