Eagles rumor roundup

I came across some Eagles rumors on KFFL I thought might be worth spreading...

First are possible replacements for Correll Buckhalter.

Eagles | Morris could be an option

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports with Philadelphia Eagles RB Correll Buckhalter testing the free-agent market, the Eagles will probably try to find his replacement from a second-tier group of free-agent running backs. One name being tossed around is Miami Dolphins RB Sammy Morris.

One name being tossed around is Tennessee Titans RB Chris Brown.

While I still think the most likely option to backup Westbrook next year is Buckhalter or a rookie, Chris Brown is a somewhat intriguing name...

Then there's some good news on McNabb.

Eagles | McNabb doing well
Mon, 26 Feb 2007 10:13:32 -0800

John Nalbone, of the Trenton Times, reports Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert said he expects QB Donovan McNabb (knee) will be ready to go in July. "He's doing very well," Heckert said. "He's been rehabbing and just starting running on ground. That's a good sign. He looks good, he's progressing well and from all the things we see right now we think he's going to be ready for training camp."

Fox sports' Ben Mailer thinks Dhani Jones has played his last game as an Eagle.

As for strong-side linebacker, Dhani Jones is still the Eagles starter as of right now, but it wouldn't be shocking if he were replaced by Chris Gocong, last year's third-round draft pick, who spent the 2006 season on injured reserve. It's also possible that the Eagles bring in a free-agent linebacker to replace Jones. Veteran Brian Dawkins will be back for another season as the starter at free safety, and Sean Considine will likely remain as the strong safety. The Eagles want Considine to work at adding bulk and maintaining it through the season.

I certainly hope so. Although I really don't know is Chris Gocong is physically suited or prepared to play the role of the SAM in the Eagles style of defense. He seems much more suited to play an outside backer role in a 3-4.
