Today is a good day

Yesterday was a good day. Today is a good day. In fact, I think this whole week is going to be good. Sure, the Eagles are all but out of the playoffs, but we just beat the freaking Cowboys. We went down and beat our most hated rival and the best team in the NFC in their own house. I've heard some people say it didn't matter, but I really disagree. These games do have meaning. There's a reason we have divisions and rivalries in football, and it's the reason that beating the Cowboys or the Giants or the Skins on any day regardless of records is a big deal. We get to watch ESPN all week and see replays, we get to hear all the pundits question whether Dallas is as good as they first thought and wonder whether the Eagles are better than their record. Every game isn't about winning the superbowl. Games can have meaning even if they don't have postseason implications.

Last night, we saw another NFC East battle where the underdog went on the road and won. It really proved that you can never take anything for granted in this division and that records really do go out the window when these teams play.

I'm looking forward to week 17 where Dallas and the Redskins will meet in a game that could decide both a playoff berth for the Skins and home field advantage for the Cowboys. In this division I'd say that game is a pick'em. Should be fun.
