Andy Reid cements his status, updates the injuries

New, comments

First, Reid made his strongest statements to date addressing the internet rumors about his possible departure.

Andy Reid put to rest any and all speculation that he might step down as the Eagles head coach. In fact, Reid gave every indication that he will remain in Philadelphia through the length of his contract and perhaps beyond.

"I'm here, I'm here." said Reid. "As long as the Philadelphia Eagles want me here, I'm here."

"It came up during the season here and I just wanted to make sure we ended it and that the players understood that and you folks understood that," said Reid in explaining why he addressed the matter. "It's pretty cut and dry that that information didn't come from me. I don't know where the information came from, but it was false.

"I'm not blog efficient, but it sounds like people can be very creative there. That has nothing to do with me. I just wanted to make sure people understood that."

The Eagles saw fit to make the article their front page story...

As for injuries Brian Westbrook, LJ Smith, & William Thomas will all returned to practice to today. However Brian Dawkins, Lito Sheppard, & Todd Herremans will not practice. Andy did mention that he expects Herremans to play this Sunday, but Max Jean-Gilles will start if he can't go. He seemed to be positive on Dawkins as well saying that he just wants to "be sure he's right" before they put him back on the field.

If there's any two backups on this team that I feel good about starting it's Quintin Mikell & Max Jean. However, we need Lito back now...

Update [2007-10-10 16:22:55 by BleedGreen]: Contrary to what Reid said in his press conference... William Thomas did not practice today and Lito Sheppard had full participation. Great news about Lito, but no Thomas or Herremans leaves us very thin on the O-line...
