The Final Drive

The Eagles got the ball with 4 minutes & 52 seconds left after the Redskins had scored 16 straight points.

Was there a doubt in anyone's mind that if the Redskins stopped the Eagles on that final drive that they absolutely would have driven down the field for a winning FG? The Redskins and Ladell Betts were carving up the Eagles defense at will and had every bit of momentum on their side.

The Eagles however, would never give the ball back. The offensive line and even Thomas Tapeh busted big holes in a Washington front 7 that had done a good job all game, and Westbrook flew through those holes into the secondary and made people miss as usual. Tapeh made one huge catch where he seemed to be the only option and converted a big 3rd & 2. Donte Stallworth made a nice catch underneath that he turned upfield for a first down. The team gutted it out not with spectacular plays, but efficient workman like plays that did the job.

This is who this team is going to win games the rest of the year. It's not going to be easy. I can not see this team blowing the Giants, Cowboys, or Falcons off the field. However, by hanging in games and making the big play or important drive when it's most needed this team may just have what takes to grab a playoff spot or even steal this division.

How does this game affect your feelings about this team's shot at a postseason appearance? Is the team now on a winning streak and has some magic on the way toward January or have the last two wins just masked serious inefficiencies that will eventually be our downfall?
