Injury bug bites the Giants

If the Eagles are going to have a shot at winning the NFC East this year, they are going to need some help. Specifically help from the Giants. The G-Men have built a 2 game lead and have a perfect division record.

The same help the Giants got in finally toppling the Eagles' hold on the division last year may come back to bite them. The injury bug.

We already know that LaVar Arrington is out for the year with a torn achilles. Pro Bowl DE Osi Umenyiora has missed several games to injury, and the news broke this week that pro bowl DE Michael Strahan could miss up to a month with a foot injury.

The news got even worse for the Giants heading into their battle for NFC supremacy with the Bears this weekend as they announced that they've placed  WR Amani  Toomer on IR with a partial tear of his anterior cruciate ligament. He'll miss the remainder of this year. Toomer has been quietly having a very good season so far with 32 catches and 3 TDs.

They also have a host of other nagging injuries such as a CB Sam Madison(hamstring, always dicey), LB Brandon Short(Quad), & WR Plaxico Burress(Back,) which kept him out of last week's game.. The Giants are going to have to get these guys healthy on the fly because their bye was in week 4.

It's tough to have to start relying on other team's bad luck, but that's the whole the Eagles have dug themselves with their latest 3 game losing streak. Any little luck our way helps.
