Smarty Marty seems to like DJ ... I might be getting to excited but I was blown away by this kids pre season ... maybe I set the bar really really really low for him but he made me happy he is wearing midnight green.

McNabb ready to go
McNabb ready after missing a few offseason practices with shoulder injury
Man he seems to be in a good place and I have to say after the end this team had last year even missing the playoffs the way they played those last few games I'm so excited for this season. Anyway McNabb seems to be as excited as me and I have to love this quote at the end.
"I'll be here," McNabb said.
Talking about how he is signed until 2013, I don't know about everyone else but I think our best chance is with McNabb right now. I don't know how long you can have Kolb in the wings waiting but I have faith in number 5 and hope he is here until he retires ... just my personal opinion.

Keeping Cowboys fans out
Maybe the birds should consider this little trick ... I know that Cowgirls fans can buy both tickets and sell the others but this might deter some.

No Love for DeSean Jackson
http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2008/6/20/555625/rookie-wide-receivers#comments
A post seeing who will be the best rookie WR, not to surprising that DeSean is getting no love. Not many people expect him to be an overly productive WR this year or a starter but more of a return specialist. Anyway mocking the draft is still a decent site for some outside team info and discussions in case you guys stopped going there after the draft.

Philly Sports ...
[Note by cavortingEagle, 06/30/08 10:59 AM MDT, promoted from Fanposts and added poll]
Pretty neat article about Philly Sports, somewhat depressing too.
It brings up an interesting question. Is it enough to be a constant contender or do you need to ultimately win championships. I am personally torn would I rather the Eagles be as they have, constantly the top of the division and making the playoffs only to come up short every year (the heartbreak is tough to handle). Or would I rather them be like the Buffalo Bills and never get my hopes up (except maybe this past year).
I bring up the Bills because they had a great run in the late 80s early 90s and I'm sure most fans would give up a few of those moments if they had won a championship one of those years.
We need a championship and the KiXX or the Soul just ain't gonna cut it.

B-West
B-West is ranked as the number 4 running back in the NFL according to Scouts Inc. I love that he is finally getting the recognition over the past 2 years. Westbrook is a class act on and off the field and I love to see him get his credit.
What I find as funny is the sentence:
Weakness: Lack of size. He is not a guy who will carry the ball 30 times per game and wear down opposing defenses.
I mean he gets about 18-20 carries a game and would welcome more. Not to mention he gets 5-10 receptions a game, so he is seeing the ball a lot and has the durability. I agree he is a smaller back but to say he can't carry the ball 30 times per game is ridiculous IMHO, B-West is a workhorse if I ever saw one. Shit I bet if you asked him to carry it 40 times and catch it 10 he would be more than happy, probably want to return punts too.

Will the Eagles restructure Lito's deal
Bill Williamson seems to think so ....
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3380011
My question is does he deserve it? ... I think I can speak for everyone when I say if there is one Eagle that deserves a restructuring it would be Brian Westbrook. He has clearly outplay his contract. But Lito has not outplayed his contract if they do restructure I would assume that it will be loaded with incentives. More than likely incentives the Eagles themselves can control, like games started, or they could go with interceptions/turnovers.
I believe that Lito will be an Eagle come the start of the season mainly because of lack of worthy offers. Do they throw him a bone? and if so are they obligated to do the same for Sheldon since they signed similar deals at the same time and Sheldon has been more consistent.

Jason Taylor
With the reports that the Eagles went after Jared Allen do you think they will make a play on Jason Taylor?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3364727
I think the price tag Minny paid for Allen will make it difficult to swallow for the Eagles. A number 1 and two 3rd rounders not that Taylor will get that much but still if the Dolphins are truely looking for a number 1 would you give up #19 for Jason Taylor?
He is older at 33 and probably only has a year or two left in the tank but could be great for that one year or two (only two left on his current contract). Whats more impressive is that he hasn't missed a game since 2000.

This is interesting ...
http://gcobb.com/content/view/1367/46/
This is interesting ... I don't know much about Antwaun Molden but he looks intrigueing and has good size. The Eagles seem to know what they are doing when drafting DBs (early on in the draft).
Anyone know anything about this kid or care to share your thoughts on using a second rounder on him.
