Help the Orioles Improve Attendance
Wow, I guess every fan got his/her own section last night. Because I feel so bad for Mr. Angelos, and even more so because I'm bored (sorry), I decided to try to help the Orioles by coming up with some dumb great ideas for promotions.
1. All You Can Drink Right Field Nightclub -- All You Can Eat Left Field Club is sweet, but this section would be sold out every night.
2. Sell the team to Cal Ripken
3. Make Cal the starting SS -- Cal looks like he's put on a little weight, and somehow gotten even balder than his playing days, but I bet he could still outhit Luis.
4. Dugout seating -- Fenway's Monster seats were a hit, so why not take that concept a step farther and let fans sit even closer to the action. With these seats, you might end up as the starting pitcher, though.
5. Chad Bradford Night -- half price admission for any mustachioed O's fans.
6. More games against the Yankees and Red Sox -- If you're Peter Angelos, you don't care whose money you're takin'.
7. I don't know, maybe actually have a good season once in awhile.
8. Build a new stadium -- Worked for the Phillies and Nats.
Come on, I know the rest of you need some pointless activity to fill the long 3.5 hours between now and gametime. Help Petey out!

McNabb wants to stay in Philly
[editor's note, by BleedGreen] Promoted from diaries. Brian beat me to this one.
With so many rumors swirling about discontent in the locker-room and QB controversies in the not-to-distant future, I thought this was nice to hear from McNabb:
"My thoughts are about ending my career here," McNabb said. "I'm not really focusing on anything like that. I'm going to be a Philadelphia Eagle my whole career, and I expect that. If anything changes, it's not in my control, but I look forward to ending my career here."
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20071018_He_Likes_It_Here.html
Now, I can't believe he wouldn't want to get away from WIP, and away from some of the scrutiny and negativity that he faces as the QB of the Philadelphia Eagles. (I know he'd face scrutiny in Chicago, but I can't imagine the mindset of their fans or media is quite this negative) He'd once again be looked upon as savior in Chicago, and who wouldn't want to play in their hometown for the team they rooted for as a kid?
Still, even if McNabb is lying for the sake of "saying the right thing", I'm really glad he came out and said this -- if only hopefully to quiet the rumors till the offseason.
In the meantime, maybe the Eagles can trade Feeley to the Bears for a 2nd round pick after the game.... :-)

Who's Now? Jeremy Bloom
Just saw on the little news bar on the left of the site that the Texans signed Bethel Johnson. Looks like Bloom's got the KR job.
Sorry, not much else to say about it. I think Bloom will be fine. If not, Reno's waiting by the phone.

Not a good sign for the rebuilding
Hoey and Doyne, down. Shuey and Bell, up.
If this team is committed to rebuilding, giving up on young pitchers after one game (albeit a bad one) is not smart.
One-line diaries are prohibited on Camden Chat. Give your diary a bit more thought, then give it another shot. If you have nothing to add to your proposed diary, then it probably belongs as a comment under another appropriate thread.
The minimum is 300 characters.
This fuckin' team isn't worth 300 characters.

Scapling best practices
So, I missed out on tickets again. Oh well, that's what I get for not shelling out the money to get season tickets in '99.
I'm going to the game in Green Bay, which will be awesome, but I hate to not make a single home game.
I guess I've still got a shot at SRO's (hopefully), but if not, I might scalp one.
Any suggestions as to when prices are best -- get 'em now or wait till closer to the game -- or mid July when people aren't thinking about it as much.

Eagles release Dhani Jones, and Chris Gocong is now #1 on the depth chart on the strong side. That Jones was released doesn't surprise, although the timing does. I'm surprised he didn't at least make it to camp. I'll try to dig around to see if there was a roster bonus that he was due to collect or anything like that, which would have influenced the timings.
While I don't think a lot of Eagles fans (myself included) will complain about this, the spotlight is now squarely on Gocong and to a lesser extent Stewart Bradley.
[editor's note, by BleedGreen] Let's also not discount the fact that Spikes could play the strong side if he needs to. By the way the Eagles sent me a text alert the moment this release happened. Makes me think they figured Eagles would like to know about this one...

Takeo Spikes?
This is totally unconfirmed by any reliable source, but one of my friends called and said he'd heard (probably on WIP) rumors that the Eagles were about to sign Takeo Spikes.
Anyone else heard any rumors or is this complete BS?

TO to Tuna: "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."
Embroiled in our own hopefully just media-generated controversy, it might be a good time to point and laugh once again at the NFC East's #1 team player and all around class act as he wishes his coach a respectful and fond farewell.

Top Ten Favorite Eagles Games Ever
[editor's note, by BleedGreen] Promoted from diaries. In the offseason, I can't get enough of this stuff...
Dave in San Mateo inspired this one when he mentioned "Westbrook's game winning kick-off return against the celebrating Giants is one of my all time favorite Eagle moments."
I'm bored, so I thought just for my own amusement I'd try to rank my top ten favorite Eagles games.
Plus, it always helps to remember the good times.
What're yours?
