Grading the 2005 draft

The accepted football wisdom seems to be that you really can't grade a draft until 3 years later. By then presumably everyone has learned the system, everyone has had a chance to get on the field, and the team has likely figured out who belongs in the NFL and who doesn't. So, as we prepare for the 2008 draft Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News gives his top 5 drafts from 2005.

#5 is your Philadelphia Eagles.

5. Eagles. Philly had an off year in `07 because of injuries and the increased level of competition in the NFC East, but it's a sleeper to be right back in the conference mix in `08. That's because two `05 picks, defensive tackle Mike Patterson and defensive end Trent Cole, should get more help in the front four rotation, and the two offensive starters from that class, wide receiver Reggie Brown and left guard Todd Herremans, are still developing their skills.

That'd be great
Except 2 of the teams that did better are the Giants and Cowboys.

Yeah...
I sadly noticed that too. But it's fair to note that this was right after our Super Bowl run so we were drafting near the end of every round. Considering that, the '05 draft seems pretty good.
