Mike Patterson has the munchies

Eagles DT Mike Patterson?
Not a great start to the offseason...
Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson was arrested Saturday and charged with marijuana possession in Evesham, police said today.

Police said they found a vehicle on the side of the road with damage caused by a minor motor vehicle accident around 6 a.m. They said they smelled burning marijuana coming from inside and found Patterson and the marijuana inside. They said Patterson admitted it was his.

Mike Patterson was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released pending a court appearance, police said. His brother was charged with resisting arrest, posted bail and was released pending a court appearance, police said.

Not the worst thing in the world a guy could get arrested for, but still not what you want to see from an important member of your team. However, this is the first Eagle to be arrested in quite a long time.

In other Eagles/Weed news, Donte Stallworth is a free agent.

The Patriots [team stats] have officially declined to pick up the option on Donte' Stallworth.

The wide receiver was due $6 million on Sunday and another $2 million on March 1. Now he's free to negotiate with anyone.

Well
Like you, I would certainly rather be reading headlines that said something like "Graves aggravated by lack of progress in contract talks."

But, him saying they aren't letting Fitzgerald go ultimately doesn't get them anywhere.  They still have to re-work that deal, and the choices are all Fitzgerald's.  It's in his hands whether he wants to hold their ability to sign anyone of note this offseason (by re-doing his deal).

If he doesn't want to (and the only reason he would is his own good will), then the Cardinals will have a choice -- find a way to get rid of him or determine keeping him is more important than acquiring other players.

Graves
It's not really a new revelation. He's been saying this very thing since the season ended.

Patterson
What an idiot!

Could the guy be any dumber?

Jeez man, you want to smoke weed?  Wait 6 or 7 more years and you can smoke it to your hearts content once you've retired.

Now we have a potential 4 game crisis at D-Tackle.

He won't be suspended
He'll get put into the NFL's substance abuse program and that's it. No way he gets suspended for a first offense.

Or...
At least don't smoke it in the car!

Moron.

When I made the choice that I did I thought I was doing the right thing, not going to Vegas and drinking for two or three days. ---Tony Romo
