A league source said today that an arbitrator ruled in the Eagles' favor Friday on a grievance that was filed by the NFL players' union on Owens' behalf more than two years ago. The union had disputed the Eagles' move to recover $1.725 million of the $2.3 million signing bonus the team paid the wide receiver when it signed him to a seven-year, $49 million deal in 2004.
What can I say? I still take joy from this stuff...

i like this from the article...
The Cowboys lost to the Eagles the next Sunday and were eliminated by the New York Giants in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs. In Owens' two years with Dallas, the Eagles and Cowboys have each won an NFC East title, but neither has advanced beyond the divisional round. The Eagles have won three of the four meetings against Owens and the Cowboys.
And now the receiver owes them nearly $800,000, which will be credited to the Eagles' salary cap in 2008.
hahaha...who gets the last laugh?
Plus we won a playoff game...
I don't think T.O. is crying about 800G
He's happy now and it shows.

Then everyone's happy
TO and Money
Really?
Jerry Jones is paying him $25 million over 3 years.
The Eagles were scheduled to pay him $23 million over those same 3 years.
You really see much of a difference in that, especially considering the Eagles contract dated from 2004 and the Cowboys from 2006? Taking inflation into account, the contracts are essentially identical in terms of perceived value at the time of signing.
If he was so convinced he was going to get cut after 2005 and not receive his scheduled big paydays with the Eagles in 2006 and beyond (supposedly the reason for his antics that year), he could have just acted the good citizen, taken his money, and moved on to his $25M contract with the Cowboys without causing all the problems and losing all the money he did.
Plus he lost $2.5 million in game checks and bonus money which gets credited back to the Eagles, and he can't sell his house in Moorestown. Oh and he loses all the investment income he would have had on that $1.7 million the Eagles didn't pay him during a roaring market in 2005-2006.
The net of all his antics is he lost $500K in cash, lost 9 games of his career (and thus all the glory and stats that would go with it to help him make the HOF since he sure as hell ain't getting a ring), received a huge black-eye with the media and fans of football, is now loathed in a city that had adored him, and is saddled with a $4M house he can't sell and is going to take a bath on.
Meanwhile, the Eagles had their second highest season of scoring in franchise history the year he left, have beaten him and his team in 3 of 4 matches and he has choked in the playoffs twice on all that popcorn (2 receptions for 26 yards and 4 receptions for 49 yards and a TD).

Backlash?
However, T.O. is anything but normal. I would imagine most NFL players would be smart enough to see the uniqueness of this case, and let it be. Time will tell.
T.O. is allergic to...
I took special note to how he passed off blame to the NFLPA for his losing this and his other case back in '05 against the Iggles.

One word for that man: KARMA.
Glad to see T.O. pay back some of that popcorn money. Wish those damn Iggles would spend it on playmakers for a change, though! Maybe if the entire roster of players (sans Sheldon Brown) releases a statement saying "we want more playmakers" the front office HAS to listen......... right?
.........right?
