It's officially Eagles season
I know not all Eagles fans who read this blog are also Phils fans, but I would guess that most are. So for those people... The Phillies just ushered in the official start to the football season.

Oh god.
The Phils are weird and painful to watch this year...every time I ( the casual Phillies observer) think they're cooked, they show amazing heart and resilience, and every time I think they're in great shape, they choke like the proverbial Philadelphia sports team.
Thank God for football

Remember 1993?
When it was 8-2 after 7, I said to myself "surely even this bullpen can't blow an 8-2 lead" and left for the gym.
Game 6 of the World Series, Phillies up by 5 wasn't it late in the game, bases loaded, Dutch up at the plate slams one way out of here ... except that it goes two feet foul. I looked up and said "Game over. There's no way Mitch Williams can be trusted with a lead that small. We needed that possible 9 run lead." And so it was.
When are Philly teams going to learn that when you've got your foot on the other guys throat after beating the ever living crap out of him, that's the time to bring out the baseball bat and start pounding his brains out too, not letting him back in the fight?

so painful
I love the Phils, but they just seem to know the right way to break my heart.
Sweet spot
But at least this team has been fun to watch this year. Even when they lose it's still a good time at the park. I hate saying that by the way.

17 of 23?
23 games left, they should win about 13 of them. 86-76 for the year.
There's almost no way the Padres and D-Backs don't win 11 of 24 and 10 of 22 respectively. And the Dogers would have to fail to win 14 of 24.
Your Philadelphia Philles - 26th out of 30 teams in runs against. Only team over .500 to allow over 700 runs. Has allowed 49 more runs than any other NL team over .500 and 80 more runs than any other wild card competitor. 29th out of 30 teams in W-L record for 1 run games.
