Justice will be a factor on Sunday
I listened to Adam Caplan of www.footballinjuries.com on the Howard Eskin show on 610 WIP this afternoon. He stated that Brian Westbrook who has not been practicing this week would be a game time decision for Sunday, but his big announcement was that RT William Thomas would not play due to the knee sprain he suffered last Sunday. That means that Winston Justice will make his first pro start. Justice played in the well in the fourth quarter against the Lions. It will be interesting to see how he fares against a pretty good pass rusher in Osi Umenyiora.
Westbrook was asked if he thought he would be ready to play Sunday.
Westbrook was asked if he thought he would be ready to play Sunday.
"I'm trying to do everything possible to get there. Really, only time will tell. If I had to make a (statement) now, I'm just trying to get ready for the game. I'm preparing myself as if I am going to play."
Lito is not a definite scratch according to Caplan, although Eskin insisted that his sources told him he will definitely not play. Dawkins will definitely not play.
The most significant injury on the Giants is Plaxico Burress, who is day to day. This is the press release from the Giants after he had an orthopedic exam on his bum ankle.
Statement from Giants Vice President of Medical Services Ronnie Barnes, updating Plaxico Burress ankle injury:
"Plaxico and I visited with Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte yesterday. Dr. Anderson reviewed Plaxico's MRI results and administered his own physical exam of Plaxico.
"Dr. Anderson confirmed our findings, which is that Plaxico has a serious sprain to his right ankle.
"Following the exam, Dr. Anderson conferred with Dr. Warren and it was determined that at this point, we will continue the course of treatment and therapy that we have used since Plaxico reinjured the right ankle when he was stepped on during the Green Bay game. Plaxcio will continue his modality therapy, and we will explore all options regarding the most appropriate shoes, orthotics and braces.
"The best prescription for this injury is rest, and as a result, Plaxico's practice time for the immediate future will be limited.
"For the time being, we will continue to evaluate Plaxico's injury on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis."

Eagles Win Again
The Birds are the better team and I think they begin to climb back up the division ladder. My expected score is Eagles 24 - Giants 16.

Help for both sides
Keeping all that help at home is going to leave McNabb's options somewhat limited downfield.
Against the Lions, it didn't matter, because not only does Detroit have a weak secondary it also has a weak D-line. Not so with the Giants. Spags won't make the mistake of having his guys play wide off the Eagles receivers - it'll be close, physical coverage, if they can stay with it that is.
I still expect #5 to have enough time to find the open man. The Giants' secondary is not much better than Detroit's.
On the other side, the Eagles defense has looked surprisingly good in all three games so far. Manning is susceptible to the pressure they can bring up front, and the Eagles secondary is a lot (two words) tougher than what the Giants have faced so far. They work together. If Bunkley has another strong game, the D will be in the Giants' backfield way too often for Manning to get comfortable, and that means an INT (or more than one) being thrown by Manning.
Again, it comes down to the line matchups. The Eagles should have a significant edge on defense going against Manning. On the other side, McNabb can pick apart a weak secondary if he gets the time, which he should even if a couple extra players have to stay home to help block.
Eagles 24, Giants 13.
