Eagles v Redskins Open Thread

It‘s on
Redskins @ Eagles
Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
Time: 8:30pm
TV: ESPN | Radio: 94.1 WYSP, Sirius 123
Weather: Will be in the low 60s with very little wind. Literally perfect football weather.

Eagles will wear the home green jerseys with white pants.

First division game of the year and the home opener... that should mean the Eagles should be very up for this one. We should find out whether the new run defense is for real. I expect a solid effort out of the Birds tonight and I'm predicting a 24-13 win.

Use this as your open thread for all cheers/rants/gloating.... and Go BIRDS!

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

ok...
i havent really gone off about this yet, but I'm really tired of people (emmitt) saying that even though the patriots stole signals they still had to make the plays... ok

So lets rationalize that saying to life... Are they really trying to say that knowing whats coming doesnt help you? So this summer when I sit for the CPA exam are you going to tell me that knowing exactly whats on the test isnt going to GREATLY enhance my chances of success??

BS!

bend don't break...
i would have been pretty upset if the Skins had gotten that 3rd first down and put themselves in  field goal range.

and...

it's a pleasure to see Reno Mahe back there.

an 80 yard drive to set the tone would be nice.

D looks good.
Except for you, Will James.

You may be a starter tonight, but Lito Sheppard you are not.

Penalties
Those penalties stink (and too many last week too), but McNabb has had time to sit back there and read "War and Peace".

another 3rd down...
the Skins aren't trying to stretch the field much...this must have been there 6th 3rd down play.

Mcnabb
definately looks more accurate than he did last week, but I'm worried that he held the ball that long.

Is he still tentative, or our WRs not getting open at all?

Yeah
too much passing in the red zone again.

But McNabb had a TD if the threw that one lower.

I hate settling for FGs.

and here comes the incomparable Will James again.

F*ck
Can I just say it?

Andy Reid is a bleeping idiot.  Why the hell are you calling a timeout to freeze the kicker on a 30 yard field goal?  It's a fucking gift that they are kicking the field goal there, just let them kick it.  Freezing the kicker on a 30 yarder at the end of the first half?

He calls a timeout, Gibbs has time to think about it, get his offense reset, and you've given them a touchdown.

Hey, even the announcers just mentioned it.

God was that stupid.  Andy Reid just does not get the concept of when to call a timeout and when not.

They deserve to get booed
Will James looks horrible. He got pancaked by Santana Moss on that long run by the QB. If the Eagles keep James on Moss, he'll have 150 yards receiving this game.

McNabb looks like he's in slow motion.

Reggie Brown and LJ Smith are dropping passes, again.

The d line isn't gaining much pressure.

This reminds me of the Tennessee game from last year.

Kolb...
Nah I'm just kidding... but seriously there isnt much that upsets me more than when mcnabb expects his receivers to catch a 5 yard ball thrown 150 mph

I understand he's not 100 percent yet...but this team can't continue to run the offense like this while he's there.

Two things....
  1. The receiver should catch the ball, no matter how hard it's thrown...
  2. Westbrook looks great today. We need to use him  more. 74 rushing yards.
Give him the ball, Marty? Andy? whoever is calling the plays.. .give it to #36!!

this sucks major ass
I'm gonna be dead tired again tomorrow because I stayed up to watch an overpaid class clown lead an offense that cant score a touchdown... and then he has the gall to have an intro into the game where he says he still plays to prove that he's the best... 5 you may not even be the best QB on this roster. Shut your face, we're tired of your stupid humor... put up or get out

4th down territory
and a 2 point conversion after the 6...

big stop by the D, and a field goal. Simple right?

only if your offense can move the ball. this one can't.

Can't punch it in
Andy's task for the week: work on your frakking red zone offense.

by sdf on Sep 17, 2007 11:35 PM EDT reply actions

AHHHHHHHHH
To repeat what I just said 15 minutes ago:

Holy cow their red zone offense looks terrible.

The fact that they never ever ever actually try to throw it to a receiver in the end zone when they get down there might have something to do with it.

Ugh.

Just awful.

by sdf on Sep 17, 2007 11:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow!
The Eagles weren't prepared for this game at all. The offensive play calling was horrible. McNabb is obviously rusty. And the defense is below average.

And can the Eagles to keep putting Will James on the field?

Not time to jump off a bridge just yet, but this team is pretty average/below average right now.

by master94 on Sep 17, 2007 11:54 PM EDT reply actions

not on the bridge yet
but this has been horribly painful. absolutely horrible. i dont totally blame mcnabb, but his night was not his best at all. still, our receivers couldnt get open for crap. i just hope that dawkins is alright, lito comes back sooner rather than later, and this team does what we all expected of them and win some games.

Frugal
On the bright side, your team is $40 million under the cap.

by romosexual on Sep 18, 2007 12:16 AM EDT reply actions

It starts with management
Jerry Jones is an inspiration to his team and there's no doubt he would whore out a family member if he thinks it could help him win.

Eagle management would do the same if it could save $20.  I think the unfortunate divorce of J.Trotter demoralized this team.  Dawkins can't do it all alone(every time).  This team lacks heart and doesn't even trust Reid anymore.

Good job, the Phillies suck, the Flyer's stink, the Sixers are cursed and now the only thing you were banking on is on life support.

I feel bad for your players and fans, management let them down.
