The Eagles are a bad preaseason team; I'm loving Sav Rocca

A few interesting notes from the papers this morning caught my eye. First, a quick glance at their record under Reid will tell you that the Eagles are simply a poor preseason team.

Reid has had just one winning preseason as the Eagles' head coach - 2-1 in 2001 - and his overall preseason record is 12-21. When the Eagles opened with 13 wins in their first 14 games on the way to the Super Bowl in 2004, they went 1-3 in the preseason, including an unsightly 24-6 loss to the New England Patriots in the opener.

Despite the fact that he's never actually played a real NFL football game, Sav Rocca is already a real football player. A very uncommon trait among punters. He didn't seem all that impressed by the big hit laid him Monday Night.

"As soon as it happened, I was, like, where the hell did he come from?" Rocca laughed. "But it's fine. If that's the best he's got, good luck to him."

Also...
I though the eagles opened at home against Baltimore in 04. Ya know, the one where Unmentionable went deep on the first play from scrimmage?

Shawn Andrews
Any word on this recent news that he might be finished for the season if not for his career?

Someone please shed some light on this!

Link?
Haven't seen this on PE.com or philly.com/sports yet.

Is this legit or message board rumor?

Not Joking!
It is legit!  Heard it on 610.  It is on phillyblurbs.com

I would not joke about something like this.

Don't know about that...
The Eagles are saying it's a sprain after he saw an ankle specialist. Unless they're lying, I can't see how that is career threatening.

This is what Andrews had to say...

"I don't know what to think right now. I'm just busy rehabbing, resting it, trying to keep my weight down and staying focused trying to get it better," Andrews said as the rest of his teammates filed out to the practice field. "It's tough because this is something I love to do. I can't be out there running and sweating with my teammates right now. I don't know what the future holds. I'll be okay either way.

"It's out of the doctors hands right now. It's out of my hands. I just have to rehab and keep praying and keep grinding. We'll see what my future holds."

In another interview
Andrews called the new he got "tear jerking"

This could be bad news.

Sorry
Didn't mean to imply you were joking about it or making it up -- just wanted to know where you heard it!

This sounds pretty awful, though.

Pre-season
I never thought pre-season was a big deal.  It's just a chance to give young guys looks and have the vets warm up.  It doesn't matter at all whether you were 4-0 or 0-4 come Week #1, but it'll still be nice to have something good to talk about after the game Friday.

Sav
Got that right - Sav's taken bigger hits than that (and given them out) in Aussie Rules - and all without pads. Next time (if) he comes up against that bloke again, he might just give him one back..

andrews...
Sounds to me like that is way blown out of proportion
