I've suspected for a while now that the Eagles would look to bring in a veteran strong safety if not to start but to provide insurance for the largely untested Sean Considine.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter had a blurb about the situation yesterday.

Buffalo, Carolina and Oakland are also reportedly interested. It's an interesting situation. If the Eagles were interested, it would likely only be in a fairly cheap one maybe two year deal. However, the Eagles would represent a real opportunity for the soon to be 32 year old Darius to make the playoffs and win this year. Buffalo, Carolina and Oakland likely do not. Is Darius after one last good payday or is he looking for a chance to get a ring before he hangs it up?

Unlike Darius, who has been injured the past 2 seasons, Sammy Knight hasn't missed a game in 7 years and only 2 in his whole career. He's 6-1, 215 and has been a pretty decent productive player although not quite the level of Darius. Knight is also 32.

Either way we are talking about short term veteran depth here, which is lacking at the SS position. It's probably the one defensive position where there's not a whole of competition or depth.
