The Linc 12/13 - Bum's Girl Edition

Iggles blog has begun to fortify the walls on the McNabb defense front. As usual, you just can't argue with the graphs. (Iggles Blog)

Dave at Eagle Scout laments the fact that no one seems to care that it's Dallas week. I noticed the apathy last week in the run up to the Giants' game. Of course, how can you really blame us? (Eagle Scout)

Something I lamented myself last week, not only are we apathetic we're bored by this team. (Bounty Bowl)

Inside the Iggles has an interview with a Dallas blogger that is convinced the Cowboys are as good as the Patriots and has no doubt they'll win the superbowl. Delusion is amusing. (Inside the Iggles)

In one more game with Dallas thanw ith Philly, TO's numbers with Romo as his QB are almost identical to his numbers with McNabb.  (Bird's Eye View)

It appears the Eagles record of being the largest non-expansion underdog was short lived. The Patriots are a whopping 26-point favorite over the Jets (Bloomberg)

I don't know why I find this interesting but the daughter of Cowboys' coach and "Bum's Boy" Wade Phillips is in the new Tom Hanks movie. (With Leather)

This is kinda funny... After the loss to the Giants the Eagles now have a 1.7% shot at making the playoffs. Hope springs eternal huh? (Sports Club Stats)

We got this.
Alright, so maybe I'm the only one...but I believe that the Eagles can win this game on Sunday.  If our secondary can step up like they did against the Patriots I honestly believe that we could have a chance at beating them.

Maybe I'm delusional but 1.7% sounds pretty good...well it does sound a lot better than a 98.3% chance of not making the playoffs.  It's that whole "glass is half full" attitude that we need to have.

The one thing that has been getting me these past couple weeks is the fact that not only have we done poorly this season, but we have done poorly at home.  I know that you've talked about here, but I think that the low morale that we have is bleeding onto the field and the players know that we're losing faith.

But I think that even though this team is not good, I think it is a team with a lot of talent.  I don't know how that works but that's the way I see it.

I still think that we have a shot at the playoffs, however slim, and if we ever were going to do the impossible, this is possibly the roster capable of doing it.

Or maybe I'm in denial.

Go Eagles.

let this season go...
"Even though Philly will likely finish the year with a losing record, you'd be hard pressed to find any team that has faced Green Bay, Dallas and New England -- who are a combined 36-3 this season -- coming out unblemished. Besides, after so much success, including last year's NFC East title, Reid has more than earned the opportunity to turn his team around next year."

Wow it's hard to think that this guy is right. The Eagles are not that good and they totally missed out on a chance to become the a powerhouse. Greenbay, Dallas and New England are beatable we just need a few more playmakers. Reid and Mcnabb should and hopefully will be back. I just hope that we pick up some players. If not fella's I'm going to really question if Jeff Lurie is a good enough owner that deserves nay more of my money.

I can't wait for this season to be over!! Who's with me????

GO EAGLES!

When's the draft?
But ... Eagles 24, Cowgirls 9

What I want to hear this weekend.

Merril Reese: "Cowboys at the 18 yard line.  Second down.  A minute twenty-one left on the clock after that sack by Dawkins.  Dallas lines up slot to the left, Barber in the backfield.  Back goes Romo.  He's looking, looking.  Here comes pressure from Cole.  Romo roles to the right and gets away from Cole and now he escapes from Thomas.  Now he's firing to the endzone for Owens and ... INTERCEPTED!  INTERCEPTED!  Running with the football down the left sideline is Lito Sheppard ... 45, 40. 35, 30. 20, 15, 10, 5, TOUCHDOOOOOOWWWWWWNNNNNNNN!  Lito Shepperd, 103 yards!  Lito Sheppard, his 3rd interception of the game!  This is amazing!  He stepped in front of Owens who had not yet even turned around for the ball yet and took it ALLLLL the way back for six.  And with a minute three left in the game, that ought to do it."

Mike Quick: "Romo just escaped the pressure on that play before Cole and Thomas just leveled him.  They just leveled him.  Oh but there's a flag on the play.  Could this be for a late hit?"

Reese: "No Mike, I think this is going to be on Owens.  He just took his helmet off and threw it at the Eagles bench then got to jawing and shoving with Sheppard who was jogging across the star at midfield towards the Eagle bench after meeting up with Dawkins and Brown there for some congratulatory celebration.  Sheppard has been playing extremely physical with Owens all day, and I don't think the couple of hits he took going over the middle from Dawkins and Reed have helped either.  Do you think he's a little mad about being held to 1 catch for 8 yards today?  Those four drops he's had have been costly for Dallas, and so have the now three interceptions on passes intended for him."

Referee: "Unsportsmanlike conduct, #81 on the offense.  15 yards, to be added to the spot of the kickoff.  #81 is disqualified."

Mike Quick: "Wow.  Lito Sheppard to the Cowboys Quarterbacks these past few years is like Ronde Barber and Lofa Tatupu to the Eagles.  He's standing there in the endzone and Romo just threw the ball right to him.  Well, the Cowboys were looking for six to Owens and then a two point conversion to tie the game, but now with that play by Lito, they will need to be looking for quite a bit more, and they won't have Owens on the field to help them.  You have to wonder.  Do the Dallas quarterbacks just not see this guy when he is on the field?  Seven of his sixteen career touchdowns before today came against the Cowboys, and now he's made that ten of nineteen today."

Reese: "I don't know Mike, but I'll take it!  Lito Sheppard is the killer of the Cowboys.  The Eagles line up for the the extra point and the ball is snapped, down, and good.  And this stadium is now as silent as a churchyard, other than the serenade of the Eagles fans here for their star cornerback while the Dallas fans start to file out in silence."

Fans: "Liiitoooo, Lito, Lito, Lito.  Liiitooo.  Liiitoooo."

Reese: "And with a timeout on the field, its the Eagles 24, Cowboys 9.  Who would have thought last week that would be the score late in the 4th quarter today?  We'll be back after this with the kickoff."

Please God ... is that too much to ask for for Christmas?

Now THAT'S the greatest story ever told.
The Eagles played their best game of the season in the game that no one thought they had a chance in.

I'm pinning my hopes on that, again.  Except they win this time.

If the Eagles beat the Cowboys I..
will cry!!! WTF they go toe to toe with the Pats one week. Barley beat a winless team and then beat the team in the NFC!!!!

If the Eagles are not flat as hell for this game it will suprise the shit out of me. But you are right the Eagles are known for winning the games they shouldn't and losing the ones they should win. I can't lie I think the Cowboy's are beatable. But not by us. A team like GB or TB will beat them in the Playoff's. Sorry

Go Eagles!!!
