Fun fact for you... Eagles safety Brian Dawkins has six career interceptions against the Redskins, his most vs. any opponent.

Prediction: Eagles 17, Redskins 16 - Despite the fact that this Eagles team inspires no confidence in me... I just have an odd hunch about this game, the Skins are only 3 point favorites at home... which means this game is really a pick-em. At 5-3 you'd think the Skins would be favored by more than the automatic 3 at home against a the 3-5 Eagles. The Redskins have struggled the past few games just like we have and they continue to get hit by injury. Their WR corps, who haven't had a TD catch since December 30th, 2006 could be without Santana Moss today as he's been questionable with a heel injury. At the very least, the speedy WR won't be at 100%. He's a gametime decision. I can see Westbrook making a play or two and the defense being pretty solid which could very well be enough to win what I do not expect to be a very pretty game.

As always though, nothing would surprise with this team...

Darren Howard
Poor guy, that was the closest hes gotten to a sack all year.

LJ Smith...
I think mistakes like that sum up why we are unable to win games. That is a disgrace.

Westbrook
has 8 touches already. Reid is going to kill the guy. Buckhalter is inactive, wonder if we're going to see Tony Hunt at all.

Lito Sheppard
I really don't think he is very good. Sure, he can grab picks, but he always seems to give up the big play.

McNabb
Overthrows again...Well done.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 1:52 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

yeah...
for a whopping 5.6 yards per attempt. Let's crown him now! Donovan McNabb: King of the checkdown pass. Whoopdy fucking doo.

are the WR getting open?
i dont get the game where i live...so i don't know if he's checking down for the sake of checking down or no one is getting open

Both
A Bit of Both. And he's holding the ball way too long as evidenced by that last sack.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 2:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Ironic...
James Thrash is single handedly beating the Eagles. I guess that is appropriate.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 2:02 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Bucks out?
Why is Buckhalter inactive? Wow. Thrash again.

by SJMIke on Nov 11, 2007 2:05 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Thrash?
This is just a joke, right?  These are fake players and this is just an expensive joke Fox & WYSP are playing on us, right?

Very funny, guys.

Can the D
stop anything???????????????????

Fucking pathetic!

Defense
is incapable of making a big stop. Finally they are showing their true colors.

Ugh..
This is a disgrace.

How in god's name...
did Reggie Brown catch that ball?

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 3:27 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I hate this defense...
Seems like this happens every time its a close game. They are just getting rolled on here. MAKE A FUCKING STOP.

Donovan...
words can't express what I am feeling right now. I think I will just leave.

Donovan...please just go away. please.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 3:42 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

What. An. Idiot.
How many times is he going to make the exact same fucking mistake?  THROW THE BALL AWAY!!!!

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 3:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

its to the point..
where I would be willing to pay out of my personal assets for McNabb's first class ticket out of town.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 3:47 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

And you just know,
After the defense does something right, finally, and Donovan gives it right the fuck back, that the defense doesn't have a prayer of stopping them here.

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 3:44 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Seriously
Throw ... the fucking... ball... away

WTF is going on with this season

by JoeD on Nov 11, 2007 3:44 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Are they
going to go 0-6 against the division like they did two years ago?  I thought today was their best chance.  A touchdown here and today is over.

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 3:45 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

N/S
They are gonna steal this now that they held them to a fieldgoal. Anybody with me?

by SJMIke on Nov 11, 2007 3:54 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Impressive stop
Credit where it's due -- defense stepped up there.

And Reid actually used his time outs well.  (That may be more shocking than anything.)

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 3:54 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Holy shit
Brian Westbrook for God.

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 3:58 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Damnit...
they left too much time on the clock. This is bad.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 3:58 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Screen
Runyon and Andrews just wiped guys out on that screen.

by SJMIke on Nov 11, 2007 4:00 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Huh?
Was that Defensive Indifference?

by SJMIke on Nov 11, 2007 4:06 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I think so
The announcers don't realize it. They let him walk in. That was their only shot.

by JasonB on Nov 11, 2007 4:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It was more
than defensive indifference.  Redskins understood that their only chance was to let him score and get the ball back.  Eagles DID NOT understand that running time off the clock was more important than scoring there.

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 4:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Great
job by the defense, but it was dumb to score there without running some time off the clock.  Jesus, do they have no understanding of the game and the clock?

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 4:07 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Smart move...
letting us score in 5 seconds so that they can have a full 2 minute drill.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 4:08 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

If the Eagles
take a knee on three straight plays there and then kick a field goal they could have taken the clock down to, what, 40 seconds?

Hope to God it's moot, but why make your inconsistent defense make yet another stop?

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 4:10 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Prevent Defense Part Deux...
here we go again. at least we will get to see an overtime period if they score.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 4:11 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Wow
unexpected win there.

20 points in the 4th quarter, who woulda thunk it.

Notice that it was Number 20 breaking up that final pass.

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 4:15 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

The opposite of the Bears game
Bears game: Defense is respectable most of the day and then chokes in unbelievable fashion at the end.

Today: Defense gets run over all day and then steps up big not once but three times (six stops inside the ten; and stops on two consecutive desperation drives for the Skins).

Strange team.

by sdf on Nov 11, 2007 4:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

sorry...
I disagree with the idea of running time off the clock and kicking a FG... in a perfect world you run the clock down and then punch it in... but if you only settle for a FG and freak TD beats you... i make em go 80 yards and covert the 2 point conversion.

We stole one, but we also stole one last year against the panthers on Monday night and the whole season changed.

We'll be back to .500 next week.

Damn patriots

how about...
what if westbrook had stopped at the 1 and taken a knee? that would have really stuck it to them because you get to run alot of time off and most likely score a TD as well.

by fuquamanuel on Nov 11, 2007 4:31 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

He should
have just stood there and dared someone to come tackle him

by JasonB on Nov 11, 2007 4:49 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

there is NO way
that any nfl player takes a knee at the one with a chance to pad their stats with a TD

true...
but that doesn't mean it wouldn't have been the best tactical move.

After the game
Westbrook said that if he realized what was going on he would have went down on the one... but the instinct to score trumps all.

by JasonB on Nov 11, 2007 10:16 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

It's fun to discuss this after a W...
And I thought it was a really smart move by the 'skins.  Shades of what Denver did to GB in their first Superbowl W.

But weird stuff happens in this league...what if Westbrook takes a knee at the 1 and they can't punch it in.  What if there's a fumble.  If they settle for 3, Washington can win it with a (very unlikely TD).  By scoring quickly, they gave Washington more time to score, but also made it impossible to lose the game in regulation.

When Wesbrook to the screen for the long TD, I was jumping up and down on my couch, only to then realize, "they left too much time on the clock!", since all Washington needed was a FG, then.

I have no problem with Westbrook scoring quickly.   Take the sure points vs. the unknown in that situation.  If it were a kneel-down situation, that's different.
