The Linc - It's Eagles vs Cowboys. Nuff said.

Cowboys @ Eagles: This Is Why We Watch Football - Blogging The Boys
This Sunday's game between the Cowboys and the Eagles has the all the makings of a big-time contest.

Scheme Session: the big-play Eagles | National Football Post
In today’s edition of "Scheme Session" here at the NFP, we are going to take a look back at the Giants-Eagles matchup from Sunday, where Donovan McNabb once again hooked up for a big play down the field that produced points. This time—a 54-yard TD pass that gave the Eagles a 23-7 lead and put the Giants away for good.

Cowboys return to scene of the crime - NFC East - ESPN
In one of the most regrettable performances in franchise history, the Cowboys suffered an embarrassing 44-6 loss. Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown intercepted Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo late in the first half, setting up a Brent Celek touchdown catch that gave the Eagles a 24-3 lead. The rest of the afternoon is still a blur for some Cowboys players and coaches -- and they'd prefer to keep it that way.

Cowboys' Williams: 'I'm Not a T.O.'
While his lower-paid teammate breaks records, Cowboys receiver Roy Williams sounds like a broken record.

Ravens' coach John Harbaugh blasts Cowboys

about 1 month ago: Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh reacts to an official's call during the first half of an NFL football game against the Cleveland Browns, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in Baltimore. (AP Photo/Rob Carr)

John Harbaugh is currently the coach of the Ravens, but spent nearly a decade in Philadelphia as the Eagles special teams coordinator. So clearly he has no love lost for the Cowboys. In a new book written by some local Philly sportswriters, ESPN NFC East blogger Matt Mosley found a very interesting quote from Harbaugh...

Asked why the Eagles have had so much success from 1999-2008 and the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game during that period, Harbaugh had this to say:

"Why is that? Because what Andy Reid and his program stand for if the opposite of what the Cowboys stand for. The Cowboys are a star system. It's all about building around individuals first and collecting talent, collecting great players. Andy has always been about building a team. And over the long haul, it's a team sport, and one of the greatest examples of that is what's happened with the Eagles and the Cowboys over the last 10 years. The Cowboys stand for everything that's wrong with the NFL."

That should help fan the flames of not only the Eagles/Cowboys rivalry, but might spark something between Dallas and Baltimore as well.

Roy Williams is mad at Philadelphia

Every day we seem to get more evidence that Roy Williams is falling apart as a player and a person. Earlier this week, he proclaimed himself the Cowboys "#1 WR" even though he's their fourth most productive. He blamed QB Tony Romo for not throwing the ball to him "correctly." After he got some bad press for that, he proclaimed that he was "no TO." He's not, at least TO was productive.

Now he's ranting about his dislike for the city of Philadelphia. Of course the biggest reason for his temper tantrum is the fact that in his two trips here his teams have been outscored 100-27. As a member of the Lions he lost 56-21 and as a Cowboy his team was blown out 44-6 last year. He also said that his family won't wear "Cowboys stuff" when they travel to Phily.

"My brother was trying to get a cab ride back to the hotel [from the stadium] and they got in the cab and the guy was like, 'E-L-G-S, Eagles! Eagles! Eagles!' " Williams said. "My brother said, 'First of all, learn how to spell.' But he wouldn't give my family a ride because they had Cowboys stuff on. So they learned not to wear Cowboys stuff when they go to Philly."

He even explained how he was rooting for the Yankees over the Phillies because of his obsessive dislike of the city.

Roy Williams is obviously a very frustrated and angry man, although probably not as frustrated as Jerry Jones who has received 33 catches and 3 TDs in two years in return for his $45 million 3 pick(1st, 3rd, & 6th) investment in Williams.

Dangerous Player: DeSean Jackson, Eagles WR - NFC East - ESPN
I believe that DeSean Jackson is the most dangerous player in the NFL right now. He's not the best receiver or the best punt returner -- but his ability to strike from anywhere on the field makes him one of the most potent weapons we've seen in years. Wide receivers such as the Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald and the Texans' Andre Johnson are going to make a ton of plays, but Jackson's the type player who only needs a couple of touches to change the course of a game.

Dallas Cowboys Blog - Jenkins plans to be physical with Philly receivers - ESPN Dallas
Cornerback Mike Jenkins has a simple plan for dealing with the Philadelphia Eagles' explosive wide receivers corps. "Go out and hit them in the mouth," Jenkins said. "Just be physical and hopefully we can shut them down." Easy to say. Difficult to execute.

Game-breaker Jackson becomes draft home run for Eagles - NFL - CBSSports.com Football
I'll tell you what's a scary thing: That six other teams looking for wide receivers passed on Jackson in the 2008 draft. The Rams took the first wideout with Donnie Avery. Then Washington chose Devin Thomas. Green Bay followed with Jordy Nelson, Buffalo took James Hardy and Denver went for Eddie Royal. After Cincinnati took a flyer on Coastal Carolina's Jerome Simpson, the Eagles had Jackson all to themselves with the 49th pick.

Covering Eagles’ Jackson will be a chore for Cowboys | Sports | Star-Telegram.com
"Help, help, got to get some help on him," coach Wade Phillips said. "They know that. We know what. You got a guy like that who makes a lot of big plays, you got to get some help, you’ve got to have somebody else looking for him, too, not just the corners. Because we’ve seen corners get beat."

Duel between Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles showcases differences in draft philosophies - ESPN Dallas
The Eagles have made a priority of returning Donovan McNabb to the Super Bowl, and it is evident in their recent draft philosophy. They acquired two young game-breaking receivers: DeSean Jackson with a second-round pick in 2008, and rookie Jeremy Maclin with a first-rounder this year. Jackson has six touchdowns this season, all covering more than 50 yards. The Cowboys will position veteran Terence Newman and first-year starter Mike Jenkins -- both first-round cornerbacks -- across from the Eagles receivers.

Former Eagle Chad Lewis talks with Bleeding Green Nation

Big day here on BGN as we welcome former Eagles' tight end Chad Lewis, who has written a new book called "Surround Yourself With Greatness." In the book Chad talks about his life and career, shares some great behind the scenes stories about some of our most memorable Eagles moments, and talks about the people in his life that have inspired him to succeed. People like Steve Young, Donovan McNabb, Andy Reid, & John Gruden to name a few.

Chad's book is on sale now through Amazon and other sites. Without further ado, let's get into it.

BGN - First off, I'd just like to thank for you taking the time to answer some questions and talk some football. I know everyone in our Eagles community here is excited to hear from you. That leads me to my first question. In a town where fans are know to have complicated relationships with their sports stars at times, I've always been amazed at how universally liked you always were and still are to this day. What do you attribute your special relationship with Eagles fan to?

Chad Lewis - The Eagles fans love a person who is willing to work hard.  They understand the game and know when athletes play with their whole heart and soul.  I know I gave it everything I had in my career with the Eagles.  I was not a first round draft pick, but I never worried about that.  The only thing I wanted to do was give it all I had.  I knew I was representing my family and my team every time I took the field.  That was important to me.  Plus, I was born in Ft. Dix New Jersey the same year the Vet was being built and I had a strong affinity to Philly.  I also had three of my children born there.  It is my home.

You were undrafted, you were cut from a few teams before joining the Eagles, then you go on to make three pro bowls and have a great career in Philadelphia. Do you consider yourself an "overachiever?"

I consider my success a result of being surrounded by greatness.  From Andy Reid bringing me back to Philly, Donovan being the greatest teammate a guy could ask for, a whole host of great teammates and coaches, an awesome owner…l felt like I had to succeed because I was in the best place, on the best team in the league.  I loved the strong team chemistry that we had the whole time I was an Eagle.  Overachiever doesn’t mean anything to me.  I have always felt that if you work as hard as you can, play with emotion, love the guys you are with, that good and great things will happen.

Even though the Eagles have dominated the NFC East for most of this decade, whenever the subject turned to the division's best tight ends, they had to be counted out of the conversation.

Semi-pro player tackles own teammate on a punt return - Shutdown Corner - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
We've all seen soccer or hockey players accidentally score an own goal, usually on a fluke deflection or errant clearing pass. Basketball players sometimes get unlucky too and make a basket for the wrong team. Heck, Jim Marshall of the Minnesota Vikings once returned a fumble into the wrong end zone. But this I've never seen.

Pic: The worst sports fan in America

Worst_sports_fan_medium

Seriously, is this person the biggest front runner on earth? I'd be willing to bet he's a Laker fan as well... Ugh. I think this guy wins the title of the worst sports fan in America.

Let this be a lesson to Dallas fans that aren't from the Philly area as to why we dislike these soulless cretins so much. They aren't real fans of any team.
