RotoworldThe Eagles announced today that they have signed WRs Nick Miller and DeMarco Sampson to two-year contracts. Miller (5-9, 180) has played in 17 games with the Oakland Raiders (2009-11) and St. Louis Rams (2011), registering four receptions for 48 yards and 404 yards on 45 career punt returns, including an 88-yard touchdown. Originally a rookie free agent signing of Oakland in 2009, Miller played collegiately at Southern Utah. He was released by the Raiders on October 1, 2011 and signed by the Rams on October 6. He scored his first-career touchdown, an 88-yard punt return on 11/27/11 against Arizona. He was released by the Rams during the 2012 offseason. Sampson (6-2, 204) was a seventh-round draft choice of the Arizona Cardinals in 2011 after playing collegiately at San Diego State and twice earning All-Mountain West honors. He recorded three catches for 36 yards in 12 games as a rookie. The Chula Vista, CA native was released as part of the Cardinals final roster cut down in 2012.
Elliott Shorr-Parks -http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2013/01/eagles_sign_a_pair_of_wide_rec.htmlPer a league source, some teams believe the Bears and Eagles are employing the Al Davis approach to interviewing coaching candidates. Davis was notorious for using a head-coaching vacancy as cover for bringing in assistant coaches from other teams and picking their brains, all under the guise of possibly hiring them.

not a rea lquoteThe support system now in place for the Eagles includes an owner who, over the last 12 months, let go of Joe Banner, his longtime friend and team president, fired Andy Reid, his longtime head coach, divorced his wife, and now admittedly leans heavily on the advice of a 37-year-old general manager he promoted to help with drafts - but whom he now acquits of responsibility for all but the latest one.

Bleacher reportLast week, Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson was hospitalized with viral pneumonia. A league source tells PFT that the Eagles now plan to place Patterson on the non-football injury/illness list for the balance of the season. Per the source, the Eagles also plan to exercise their discretion to reduce Patterson’s pay, not completely but partially. The move is expected to cause hard feelings, especially since it’s entirely possible that Patterson initially got sick because of practicing or playing in the elements. Moreover, the money that will be saved (roughly $150,000, we’re told) could do far more damage to the team’s relationship with Patterson — or to the reputation of the front office within the locker room. As the Eagles wrap up a difficult season and prepare for what all appearances will be a new era, it’s not a good look.
Pro Football Talk"Obviously the coach is the one that’s going to take the fall, but I’ve seen a lot of things that disgust me when you turn on the film in terms of players, cornerbacks and what not, not wanting to stick their face in there, not hustling to the football, and when you have that on a team that’s a cancer. You can’t get past that."
John Lynch on Mike and Mike. Maybe Big Red isn't as much to blame for this mess as we all think he is. On second thought, yes he is.
