Predict the Schedule

No, not the results, try to come up with how you think the schedule will turn out, how you would like it to be, or a mix of both. I figure this is interactive, yet a nice change-up from seeing 30000 mock off-seasons

Coping with the Giants win Or "Why I Put The Gun Down"

[Note by JasonB, 02/07/12 10:27 AM EST ] Several of our community members have been offering their ways to deal with the Giants Super Bowl win in the fanposts. I thought it would be fun to feature some today. I've you've got your own idea, be sure to post it over there.

Watching the Eagles melt down at the Linc against the 49ers with my two sons this year ? $525

Flying into Philly to watch the Eagles get thrown back at the goal line by the mighty Snyderskins 3 years ago ? a cool grand

But trying to choose between the Giants and the Patriots to win the SuperBowl? Pure unadulterated Cruelty. The Patriots and Tom Brady, like Larry Bird and the Celtics of years ago, just need to GO AWAY. Enough already. You've had your SB wins, loses and cheats....now, please, just GO AWAY.

The Giants, who play at Eagles North stadium, went 1-5 in true Coughlinesque late season fashion, then beat the overblown Ryan brothers (who doesn't these days?) to "power" into the playoffs out of the worst division in pro football. They get a Falcons team led by Matt Ryan who shakes like a leaf (on a tree, outside, where football is played). A Packers team that either took the biggest gambling payoff or longest bye week nap ever or both. And a 49ers punt returner who hadn't mastered that Sun Tzu art of war strategy: when greatly outnumbered by your adversary, just run away.

There's Always Next Year

[Note by JasonB, 02/07/12 10:27 AM EST ] Several of our community members have been offering their ways to deal with the Giants Super Bowl win in the fanposts. I thought it would be fun to feature some today. I've you've got your own idea, be sure to post it over there.

As much as we talk about the history of teams, how many championships a team has won, and blah blah blah, it really is about how they play year-to-year. Congrats to the Giants. I've never seen a team get so many breaks go their way, but kudos for taking full advantage of every gift you were given. You guys earned it.

But now, a day later, the new season has already begun, and Superbowl 46 is already in the rear view mirror. I'm ready to cheer on my Eagles with the hope of taking it all the way. And if not this year, then the next year...and then the next year....and then the next...

Because, one day, we will break through. And oh, what a glorious day that will be. We will have finally done it. No more empty trophy case. No more comments about how we have never won a Superbowl. And when the naysayers will condescendingly comment how "we don't have as many Superbowls as they do," it will fall on deaf ears. Because frankly, we won't give a damn at that point - because we can finally say that we can win a Superbowl, too...

Salt on the Wounds

As if it wasn't enough to go through this nightmarish season...

But whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Officially the nightmare that was the 2011 season is now over. Let's cleanse ourselves of the stink.

I couldn't watch most of the game last night, I just flipped to the game once or twice a quarter to check the score and then flipped right back in disgust. But to flip to the game with 9 seconds left and to see who was up, was the worst feeling ever. I don't wish that feeling on my worst enemy.

I know a lot of us have to put with Giant fans in our daily life, so here's my strategy... Deny that I watched the game at all, act like I don't know who won and congratulate them when they act all goofy and pumped up about their Giants winning another one and try to throw it in our face. Their elation will probably last for a week or two or three... and then eventually they'll come back down to earth and then we can have a normal conversation with them. But until then, avoid them at any cost, do not accept the fact that the Giants won, and smile and congratulate them with the deepest hatred inside if you somehow bump into one of these people.

Whos fault: Brady or Welker?

I know this is an Eagles website and nobody really wants to talk about the Super Bowl. But i just wanted some feedback from knowledgable football fans. I just watched Skip Bayless rip Tom Brady for throwing the pass behind Welker when from my angle, Brady threw it a little behind him to take him away from Kenny Phillips and Welker definitely was at fault.

Heres the play: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012020500/2011/POST22/giants@patriots#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Heres Skip:
http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/7546795/tom-brady-wife-gisele-bundchen-blasts-new-england-patriots-receivers (the 2nd link)

I had to give Skip credit because he knew LeBron was an asshole about 3 years before the average person but more often then not I think he misses the point because he just likes to disagree with people

We don't win because we don't have a clutch QB...period.

Seeing the Giants, Saints,Packers, Steelers and Saints dominate in the super bowl makes me think more than ever the Eagles aren't going to ever win it all until we get a clutch QB who can CONSISTENTLY drive you down the field when the games on the line. We have not had that player for the last 20 years. Cunningham, nope. Mcnabb, when the game was tightest he generally didnt get it done. Vick has been in a really tight playoff situation once, and he choked by throwing a pick when he had time on the clock and could have easily dumped it down to Lesean Mccoy.
I think we all get caught up with Vick because he looks like he wants to win and has a lot of amazing physical skills but hasnt shown he could consistently produce game winning drives(and he has by far the most weapons that ANY eagles QB has ever had). Its a mental position and all the guys on the teams I mentioned above have that "clutch" bone in their body. I'm not sure any Eagles QB ever has. Not in the last 20 years at least. Its like the Sixers with Iguodola--he has amazing physical skill but when the games on the line hes just not that guy. Hopefully we find gold and draft "someone" who has "it" . Id like to see a championship at some point during my life.

Mock It To Me

Eagles Nation-

After much thought, I have put together what I think is a very solid offseason plan for the Eagles. It is no too flashy, and I truly believe that it is very realistic and could easily happen. I would love to get your take on it, but I also invite you to create your own offseason plan. Please let me know what you think should be the master plan for this offseason, and what gives us the best chance at winning the Super Bowl next season.

*Franchise DeSean Jackson. After That, Trade Him. Look for the best possible deal, but don’t expect the stars and the moon. I think the best possible deal would be a mid-second-round pick, in 2012, and a fourth-round pick in 2013. The third-round pick can climb to a second-round pick, in 2013, with certain escalators.

*Re-Sign Our Own Free Agents:

*Evan Mathis-OL

*King Dunlap-OL

*Derek Landri-DL

*Antonio Dixon-DL

*Akeem Jordan-LB

*Make Good, Smart Trades:

*Trade WR DeSean Jackson to San Francisco for their 2012 2nd Round draft pick (#62 overall) and a 2013 4th Round draft pick (with an escalator to become a 3rd Round pick based on performance).

*Trade the 2nd Round draft pick we received from San Francisco (#62), our 4th Round draft pick (#99), and one of our 6 Round draft picks (#183) to Tampa Bay for their 2nd Round draft pick (#36).

*Trade CB Asante Samuel and one of our 4th Round draft picks (# 114) to Detroit for their 3rd Round draft pick (#86 overall).

*Trade OL Winston Justice to Carolina for their 6th Round pick (# 168 overall)

*Trade Jamaal Jackson to Indianapolis for their 6th Round pick (# 161 overall)

*Choose The Right Free Agents

*FB Marcel Reece-RFA (OAK) With Reece being a Restricted Free Agent, we are going to need to make a very significant offer to keep Oakland from matching it. Reece is a matchup nightmare, and would resemble that of former Eagle FB, Leonard Weaver. Reece is a great blocker, is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, and can pick up the short yardage on the ground that the Eagles struggle so mightily with. Look for a 3 year contract.

*BenJarvus Green-Ellis-UFA (NE) I like Dion Lewis a lot, and he is clearly the backup to Shady heading into 2012, however, we need depth. I like “The Law Firm” as a change-of-pace back; who can pick-up tough yards on short down, and who has a knack for reaching the endzone. He also has a solid foundation, as he comes from New England’s winning ways. Look for a 1-2 year contract.

*WR Robert Meachem-UFA (NO) In trading Jackson, we lose that great speed he brought to the WR position. Meachem is a very fast WR, himself, and I believe that a change in scenery would help him to begin to reach his true potential. I also think that he would make for an intriguing Kick/Punt Return option, even though he has not played the position since high school. Look for a 1-2 year contract.

*MLB Stephen Tulloch-UFA (DET) This is the “big splash” free agent that we must look to get this offseason. Tulloch has played his entire professional career behind a Wide 9 defensive scheme. He is a sure tackler, and he is the perfect fit for our MLB position. By all indications, Detroit is going to do everything they can to retain Tulloch, so we will have to invest heavily to obtain Tulloch. Look for a 5 year contract.

*SLB Manny Lawson-UFA (CIN) We could look to draft a SAM (Strongside Linebacker), but there doesn’t appear to be a truly NFL-ready player available in this draft. Lawson flourished in his first season as a 4-3 scheme Linebacker. Up until last season, Lawson played OLB in a 3-4 scheme, in San Francisco. Lawson was dominant in run support last year for the Bengals, which is exactly why the Eagles need to make a push to sign the Linebacker. Look for a 3 year contract.

*Recap Eagles Draft Selections (after trades)

1st Round (#15) -

2nd Round (#36) -

2nd Round (#46) -

2nd Round (#51) -

3rd Round (#77) -

3rd Round (#86) *Detroit trade -

5th Round (#145) -

6th Round (#161) *Indianapolis trade -

6th Round (#168) *Carolina trade -

6th Round (#176) -

6th Round (#190) -

*Draft These Players

1st Round (#15) - Michael Floyd-WR (Notre Dame)

2nd Round (#36) - Jerel Worthy-DT (Michigan State)

2nd Round (#46) - Vinny Curry-DE (Marshall)

2nd Round (#51) - Nick Foles-QB (Arizona)

3rd Round (#77) - Trumaine Johnson-CB (Montana)

3rd Round (#86) *Detroit trade - Ladarius Green-TE (La.-Lafayette)

5th Round (#145) - Brandon Lindsey-OLB (Pittsburgh)

6th Round (#161) *Indianapolis trade - Markus Zusevics-OT (Iowa)

6th Round (#168) *Carolina trade - Demario Davis-OLB/ILB (Arkansas State)

6th Round (#176) - Desmond Wynn-OG (Rutgers)

6th Round (#190) - Damien Jackson-FS (Mississippi)

-The Dawkside

Poll
Do you think that if this type of offseason were to happen for the Philadelphia Eagles, that it would be enough to get us over the hump?

I never want to hear another Eagle fan

I never want hear another fellow Eagle fan to ever say the words "it isn't worth making the playoffs and getting bumped in the first round, its better to have them lose and get rid of Reid" ONCE AGAIN the Giants proved that all it takes is getting in and everyone has a shot... it is a gross realization that this should have been us and its even worse to hear when the Eagles were mathematically still in it after the Miami game to hear the callers on WIP saying we should just lose because "it isn't worth making the playoffs and getting bumped in the first round, its better to have them lose and get rid of Reid"
